It'll be close, I agree, but I don't see how anyone can say Trump has had a bad campaign. Since he got shot there's been almost no coverage of him. On the contary, the media have been fan-girling Harris to the point where even the BBC are running daily headlines about her.

I suspect that speaks for itself.
Love this the media is corrupted don’t watch or listen but the media is also able to change everyone’s opinions
Trump playbook all up

There’s been less coverage because he’s hardly held any events to be covered. That in itself is because he has been (understandably) reluctant to rally outdoors but also because he owes so much money to indoor venues that his campaign either can’t afford or can’t get these places to agree to stage his events there.

He had one week where his only rally was in Montana, which is a safe Republican state with few electoral votes. So he’s restricted himself to holding press events at home where he’s come across as incoherent and resorted to personal attacks on Harris which aren’t landing.

His awful VP pick, probably the most unpopular since Dan Quayle, isn’t helping him either. Polling pretty much across the board shows that Tim Walz, whose nomination you find funny for some reason, is much more well liked on that side too. You might find it hard to accept, but since the Biden dropout the Democrats have been running a strong campaign while Trump has collapsed.

Trump will blame everyone and everything if things don’t go his way
If they do he thanks himself no one else
You think the bbc want Harris to win rather than presenting news
Go back to the republican convention you may be surprised at the coverage

If you stopped trying so hard to get high fives from people on the off topic and actually looked, not only would you come across less desperate and stupid, but you would also see what I'm talking about.

This is literally today.

Media? Looks like they're running a campaign for her. It's every single day.

I get very few likes on any of these forums lol
Convention just finished so it’s news but I’ll keep my eye out
I’ve been trying to broaden where I receive my news about the world but often Occam’s razor is the key to all this stuff

I agree with @Earlsdon_Skyblue1.

It's very difficult to find a media outlet that has a balanced or fair approach, so you are left to piece together what DT and KH are actually about. I also find the tone and focus of reporting to be very pro-Democrat - they are treated as "normal" and DT as a demented interloper.

KH has yet to have any kind of open question forum and is having her image or "vibe" very strongly managed. How she would fare under pressure is anybody's guess. She has done nothing of note apart from shag the mayor of San Francisco and churn out platitudes.

So on the future world stage we potentially have a women who knows very little (apparently) and inspires zero confidence or an old geezer who's main asset is his unpredictability.

There’s more or less daily coverage of Trump as well.

Picking Vance just highlights the disconnect. Vance's appeal is to an established Republican vote (the right of the party). No thought went into how to "woo"the middle ground undecideds.
Trump just assumes he'll win any"fair election". No secret he was loathe to take advice from experienced people on many isssues when he was President. Should be no surprise he's running his campaign his way without taking heed of any advice he just doesn't like to hear.

His latest attack lines consist of calling the act of giving everyone healthcare ‘communist’. The Harris platform pledges to erase American medical debt, which about 40% of the population has, and is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the country.

8 years ago, a very different Trump was saying he’d make sure everyone was covered and that ‘nobody would be left dying on the street’. He is campaigning now as a traditional far right Republican but while also ranting about Kamala Harris not really being black. If anything, I’m stunned at how close the race still is

Close because the key issue is the economy and cost of living. People may not like candidates but prime concern is always financial and the issues that directly impact on that.

The economy is objectively in a much stronger place compared to how Trump left it. As it usually tends to be under Democrat presidents.

He’s also the third story on the BBC. Trump hasn’t been holding rallies since the assassination attempt.
I don't know, seems to me the BBC are ignoring Trump 🤪

Not sure why it's a surprise that the media is covering the Democratic National Convention, would be a bit weird if they weren't.

Yet can't seem to convince voters on that according to most polls. Most voters have a negative view of the economy (around 70%) and Trump has significant higher "trust" ratings in the polls on the economy and inflation.

We live in a weird world where people have access to more data than at any point previously yet seem to increasingly ignore it and make decisions based on 'vibes'

To be fair Harris lives off vibes. She’s been fairly anonymous as vice president and hasn’t had one debate or interview yet. She had poor ratings when VP and was considered a bewildering choice

For a very long time now the US public has believed the Republicans to be better on the economy despite the long term data showing the exact opposite.

The Trump tax cuts blew a huge hole in the country’s finances as the latest recent example and Biden has mostly repaired the damage.

She played the game and cut off her opponents to secure the nomination. She has received votes, she’s an elected Vice President and can’t be sacked because of that. Complaining that the person going for the top job is good at politics seems a little desperate. As if Republicans have had a free hand during Primaries the last few cycles.

It’s more the timing of everything for me. Was it genuinely believed that Biden could run and be able to last the term ? Im just a bit sceptical when you look at the condition of him recently. Once he dropped out so late in the day they were always going to be struggling to run a proper process so the ‘safest option’ was probably anointing Harris.

Agree that Trumps situation with the republicans is no different, he has the party stitched up and hasn’t had much/enough challenge from within

But this is peoples own perceptions/financial positions which has lead to the Dems polling poorly on the economy. The fact is a lot of people feel poorer due to inflation, especially in essentials (food, petrol etc) and also the housing market has been clogged up and people can’t move or get on the ladder due to house prices and high Fed rates, so the data/numbers like gdp, whilst impressive, don’t count for much

Trump was right about one thing. It was a big mistake for him to debate Biden before the DNC as that really is what tipped opinion over the edge while there was time to make a change.

Again, poor campaign strategy

Don't write too much on this subject and am prepared to be shot down, but Trump seems to be backing away from a debate with Harris, a lot on here saying she hasn't debated at all (well it takes two) and going to be controversial now, but did Trump really get shot, could he not have had an ampule of blood in his hand when he went up to his ear, very peculiar that people behind him already had their phones out lol. Anyway as I said bit of a conspiracy, and I'm not a conspiracy theorist kind of guy really

At the same time, the polls continue to drop for him. Strong debate performances are what he needs
If you leading his team would you trust him to deliver the required performance? They haven't been able to get him to move from personal attacks to policy issues since before Biden quit.
