I’m one of Lati’s biggest critics but thought he was pretty good today. That might be against how good I think he is, but thought was one of his best displays since joining

Referees in the championship are awful, after palmer scored wright picked the ball up and there defender Williams I think punched him and then there was that big Melee all the players run in to stop it escalating and the clown of a ref booked wright and I’m sure if we had VAR there defender would of been sent off.

Latibeaudiere is a good CB, we’ve not seen this player because he hasnt played in his natural position. We saw glimpses of what he could be whenever he had the opportunity. I think him and Binks are a good pair and if they build a proper understanding together will be unreal

Dovin 7.5 made some decent saves and kept us in the game
MVE 6 ok
Bidwell 5 got skinned a few tomes early on
Lati 7 had a decent game
Binks 7 as above
Torp 5 looks like he cant cope with the pace of the game in England at the minute
Eccles 6 some good some bad. Dont think it helps having torp next to him
Rudoni 6 just about ok
Saka 5 didn’t want to know once they put in a couple of strong challenges. Getting bodied early on finished him in the game
Wright 4 looked like a pub player today. Most of the decisions he made were wrong in the game.
simms 4 badly isolated with a lack of service. Probably down to hos team mates more than him

Palmer 8 scored and changed the momentum by getting us going forward instead of backwards. A lot didnt work but picking the ball up and running with it put then on the defensive more.
BTA 7 pressed better than simms and as with Palmer helped us get onto the front foot
EMC 5 looked off the pace
JDS 6 looked an improvement on Bidwell today
it looked like we weren’t up for the fight for the first half especially with Bristol putting in some heavy challenges.
Referee was awful and certainly fell for their diving and time wasting tactics.
It was also noticeable that the ball boys didnt move at all in second half when the ball went out. I thought that the fa had stopped this tactic. Pretty shit thing to get kids to do really.

I think both praise and criticism are justified. Praise for shot-stopping and playing ball with feet. But a certain amount of criticism for his work in the air. Bristol quickly cottoned on to his tendency to flap/punch and put in majority of corners, and some crosses from the wing, on top of him. He looked uncomfortable especially when a Bristol player was all over him (fairly or unfairly). I’m sure he will get stronger (hope coaching staff already on it) in such situations in future.

They put a player on him for every corner and he just blocked him off. We should’ve had someone pushing him away stopping it but never did
Refs should be stopping this blocking of keepers at set pieces. Think simms does our keeper blocking. Just don’t agree with it, it’s obstruction

Most corners and set pieces should end with about 6 yellow cards.

Come on, he's fair to crticise. Did some good saves definitely, but also flaps a bit with ariel balls and doesn’t like to catch the ball. You absolutely hate Wilson and that's the common pattern with anyone shutting down the Dovin questions.

A couple of things.
It is frustrating for everyone - club I'm sure included - that we haven't been able to significantly upgrade our midfield given the departures of O'Hare and Hamer. Looks from the outside that our marquee new midfield signing over the summer failed at the final hurdle. These things happen and let's hope that this is resolved next week.
Second. We need to question our tactics. The Oxford game was brilliant with the space allowed for Rudoni, Saka and Wright to look Premiership class. But Bristol City did a real number on us on Saturday to close that space and our key players just didn't have any possession. They pushed us back into our own half - and we lost control of the game, handed over the initiative. One solution to this is the acquisition of a top class DCM to control the midfield and the return of Sheaf. That apart we need to question how flexible we are with in game situations - in this case plan A clearly wasn't working (as it had against Oxford), our tactics should have changed far earlier to counter the Bristol game plan which was working perfectly for them. We don't have to wait until the 55-60th minute to counter the tactics of the opposition. Want to see more in game tactical flexibility from our coaching team. It's always easy to target players but our tactics in game in countering what the oppo is doing - even more key.

Just back (ok, logging on). Intrigued why player ratings don't reflect how the opposition played. I thought -
- Torp playing defensive game not natural for him, but our bench brought us into the game 2nd half.
- Liam Manning is a good coach. Nullified us 1st half, BCFC passed through us centrally, doubled up on Wright & Saka out of possession.
- Rudoni and Saka closed down, but Wright's movement was beyond our team's capacity to find, but stretched them.
- Twine moved right to left or physically blocked Torp/Eccles, to create overloads on our full backs. Binks & Lati covered overloads well.
- Favourite chant. Bidwell exceptional tackle "Bidwell for England", shanked it out 5 mins later "Bidwell for Scotland".
The Cottage Inn is a cracking boozer, 15 min walk Good chat with local fans, music after game.
Not necessarily true, sakamoto had occasions when he was on the ball and chose go backwards, most unlike him to be fair!
