Nothing new from me. I think Matty James would be a sensible addition, until we can get what we want. Eccles and others would benefit massively from his experience / leadership.Any new snippets mate ?

If not him, someone of that calibre. Got to be positive about that I guess.Sounds like the club were definitely working on some sort of package
That’s what I thought, cant see it myself, if we couldn’t afford to keep hamer, we couldn’t afford billingAssuming that Billing was ever really a target.
Sounds fanciful!Sounds like the club were definitely working on some sort of package
Sounds fanciful!
So if sheafs going to be back for the watford game, why we trying to get a panic signing in ?
He’s only hurt his toe, back on the grass next week ready for the watford game, where he’ll get injured again, and we all go into meltdown againBecause it's Sheaf, you know Sick Note.
Because we needed cover for Sheaf before he was injuredSo if sheafs going to be back for the watford game, why we trying to get a panic signing in ?

If we sign James then Sheaf is worse than we are being told?Because it's Sheaf, you know Sick Note.
Thats the concern as the alternative to robins - be on grass this week/next for Watford.Rumour is another 5 weeks
robins said he did it in training at the cbs Thursday, shooting practice and caught the ball the end of his toe, is he just unlucky or made of glass,Rumour is another 5 weeks
That's exactly as I interpreted itCould be completely wrong, but I got the impression when he said it that he meant the ball had caught the end of his toe, exacerbating the earlier ankle injury by twisting it??
Fantastic post, sensible and the insights you seem to have is cause for optimism.I wish I could say more, but I respect the club want to move quietly. If people knew the type of players we are going for, it would probably change a lot of views on the matter. We're almost 2 years into a 5 year plan (probably a provocative statement today), it's going to take time to get the right players in the right positions. Replacing one by one is tedious, but that's FFP and wage structure for you, I don't want us to return to the days when we were all selling, no reinvesting. It's just perspective. I get the frustration, but I see people on here who are nowhere to be seen when the team are doing well, then whipping up the negativity at the first opportunity. That's not general fan frustration, it's doom mongering. Looking at it, I don't think any of the teams touted for the top, have really had the best starts possible, look at Luton. I still think the Championship is wide open this season. Strange results everywhere in the first few weeks.
When the salary would come out of the value of a deal it's asking for not very much from the original deal as far as I know! A bit like the one we just got out of with Palmer!!Billing would've had to take at least a 50% paycut to come here. I think fanciful is probably an understatement.
I don’t think it’s directly related to sheaf as much as people think,
I think reporters have put 2 and 2 together knowing sheaf is injured, but robins said he’ll be back for watford
I think he wants an extra body in there regardless
It looks as if Gykores is about to sign a new contract with Sporting Lisbon.
Viktor Gyokeres development shared that could impact Coventry City
Viktor Gyokeres is set to sign a new contract with Sporting CP, with Coventry City due a sell-on clause if he does leave.footballleagueworld.co.uk
This may mean that he isn’t likely to be moving in the near future, although equally it could maintain the value of his transfer fee if/when he does eventually move because there will still be a good period left on his contract.
There legally has to be a release clause I believe.Means no or higher release clause though
Yeah he'll be 27 by the start of next season so I can't see him wanting to stay longer than that if he has designs on moving to an elite club.Getting higher wage keeps him happy for the whole season I suspect and he won’t move in Jan.
If he doesn’t move next summer then he’s not really ever going to get a bigger club than Sporting.
Billing was never coming. Honestly anyone who thinks that was a remotely realistic signing is completely deluded.Philip billing to matty James the most cov thing ever

The sort of thing that if it came up in Football Manager would have me reloading the saverobins said he did it in training at the cbs Thursday, shooting practice and caught the ball the end of his toe, is he just unlucky or made of glass,

Not sure why that is such a big issue. Imagine they disclosed it within days and it turns out worse than thought, they then get abuse from fans etc.Slight gripe I have with this club is how we're so hush hush on any injuries. Feels like most other clubs have a timescale communicated a few days after but we say nothing and whispers are then created.
