I wish I could say more, but I respect the club want to move quietly. If people knew the type of players we are going for, it would probably change a lot of views on the matter. We're almost 2 years into a 5 year plan (probably a provocative statement today), it's going to take time to get the right players in the right positions. Replacing one by one is tedious, but that's FFP and wage structure for you, I don't want us to return to the days when we were all selling, no reinvesting. It's just perspective. I get the frustration, but I see people on here who are nowhere to be seen when the team are doing well, then whipping up the negativity at the first opportunity. That's not general fan frustration, it's doom mongering. Looking at it, I don't think any of the teams touted for the top, have really had the best starts possible, look at Luton. I still think the Championship is wide open this season. Strange results everywhere in the first few weeks.
Fantastic post, sensible and the insights you seem to have is cause for optimism.

If we were chasing a player playing in the UCL last season earlier in the window, I felt that we were going for a player of that calibre still. The issue is that they’re difficult deals to complete and as with Stamenic, the agents want their cut and will try and get their players a Prem move.

I trust the process and 2-4 quality additions in the right positions in our team and we’ll have a really solid team. Breeding negativity isn’t the way forward either, there’s been a lot hot headed comments so far which will look silly by May 2025.

I don’t think it’s directly related to sheaf as much as people think,

I think reporters have put 2 and 2 together knowing sheaf is injured, but robins said he’ll be back for watford

I think he wants an extra body in there regardless

Billing would've had to take at least a 50% paycut to come here. I think fanciful is probably an understatement.
When the salary would come out of the value of a deal it's asking for not very much from the original deal as far as I know! A bit like the one we just got out of with Palmer!!

It depends on your definition of ‘directly’. Robins will want Sheaf to build up his fitness without flogging him for 90 minutes every game.

It looks as if Gykores is about to sign a new contract with Sporting Lisbon.

This may mean that he isn’t likely to be moving in the near future, although equally it could maintain the value of his transfer fee if/when he does eventually move because there will still be a good period left on his contract.

Getting higher wage keeps him happy for the whole season I suspect and he won’t move in Jan.

If he doesn’t move next summer then he’s not really ever going to get a bigger club than Sporting.

Yeah he'll be 27 by the start of next season so I can't see him wanting to stay longer than that if he has designs on moving to an elite club.

It's more than likely the release clause will go higher, perhaps that's why they bought out part of the sell on and not because of immediate interest in him.

robins said he did it in training at the cbs Thursday, shooting practice and caught the ball the end of his toe, is he just unlucky or made of glass,

If we sign James then Sheaf is worse than we are being told?

Slight gripe I have with this club is how we're so hush hush on any injuries. Feels like most other clubs have a timescale communicated a few days after but we say nothing and whispers are then created.

Not sure why that is such a big issue. Imagine they disclosed it within days and it turns out worse than thought, they then get abuse from fans etc.

Yeah, I get that - but most clubs would say "there's a scan taking place on *insert day* and from there there will be some sort of timescale". All we get is "it'll be some time" and we usually only know they're almost back once they're reported to be on grass.

For all Sheaf's injuries we're rarely told how long. Sakamoto's was shrouded in some mystery for some time before it seemed accepted he'll be back for the start of the season. Raphael we haven't a clue other than it's something to do with his thigh.
