It seems that a significant factor in the poor performances and results since April is because of Dennis Lawerence and Adi Viveash leaving the club and being replaced with inferior coaches and a structure that appears to have undermined the manager.
There has been a lot of criticism of the coaching restructure and this is understandable as Aled Williams and John Dempster do not have very impressive CV´s and this could be a factor in why the players seem so clueless, uninspired and lacking in confidence.
Aled Williams was never a professional footballer and before joining CCFC when the club was in League 1, he was a goalkeeping coach at Telford United.
Before this he was an Academy coach at Wolves, Cardif and New York Red Bulls.
He does not have a UEFA Pro Coaching Licence and under his coaching, the likes of Marko Marosi, Simon Moore and Brad Collins regressed as goalkeepers.
Ben Wilson was fortunate to win the golden glove 2 seasons ago because of the excellent defence in front of him.
Many fans are questioning why Aled Williams is having so much influence on defensive coaching and giving so many instructions to players on a match day, and as he has never played professional football and has a very poor coaching CV, he will probably have minimal respect from the players.
John Dempster spent most of his playing career in non-league and before becoming Academy manager at CCFC he was Academy manager at Mansfield in League 2.
Dempster took over as first team coach when Dennis Lawrence left the club and this coincided with the poor performances and results since April.
Also, during his time at the Academy as Under 18 and Under 21 Manager, no players have become first team regulars, and this is unacceptable for a club like CCFC which previously prided itself on youth development and produced players such as James Maddison, Callum Wilson, Gary McSheffrey and Cyrus Christie.
Considering that the improvement to the training facilities and that the coaching restructure was intended to make CCFC operate like a Premier League club, having coaches like Aled Williams and John Dempster's is clearly the cheap option and the players and other coaches probably think this too.
In my opinion, upgrades to the coaching staff are needed and the club must have higher standards and expectations.
