Coaching Restructure (6 Viewers)

It seems that a significant factor in the poor performances and results since April is because of Dennis Lawerence and Adi Viveash leaving the club and being replaced with inferior coaches and a structure that appears to have undermined the manager.

There has been a lot of criticism of the coaching restructure and this is understandable as Aled Williams and John Dempster do not have very impressive CV´s and this could be a factor in why the players seem so clueless, uninspired and lacking in confidence.

Aled Williams was never a professional footballer and before joining CCFC when the club was in League 1, he was a goalkeeping coach at Telford United.
Before this he was an Academy coach at Wolves, Cardif and New York Red Bulls.
He does not have a UEFA Pro Coaching Licence and under his coaching, the likes of Marko Marosi, Simon Moore and Brad Collins regressed as goalkeepers.
Ben Wilson was fortunate to win the golden glove 2 seasons ago because of the excellent defence in front of him.

Many fans are questioning why Aled Williams is having so much influence on defensive coaching and giving so many instructions to players on a match day, and as he has never played professional football and has a very poor coaching CV, he will probably have minimal respect from the players.

John Dempster spent most of his playing career in non-league and before becoming Academy manager at CCFC he was Academy manager at Mansfield in League 2.
Dempster took over as first team coach when Dennis Lawrence left the club and this coincided with the poor performances and results since April.
Also, during his time at the Academy as Under 18 and Under 21 Manager, no players have become first team regulars, and this is unacceptable for a club like CCFC which previously prided itself on youth development and produced players such as James Maddison, Callum Wilson, Gary McSheffrey and Cyrus Christie.

Considering that the improvement to the training facilities and that the coaching restructure was intended to make CCFC operate like a Premier League club, having coaches like Aled Williams and John Dempster's is clearly the cheap option and the players and other coaches probably think this too.
In my opinion, upgrades to the coaching staff are needed and the club must have higher standards and expectations.

Interesting about Aled Williams tbf, I didn’t realise he isn’t considered a professional coach under UEFA guidelines. It definitely highlights how Doug seems to have taken the cheap option in coaching and I think this must have an impact in our poor performances in some regard. Maybe Doug hasn’t taken the cheap option but it just seems that way, obviously only looking from the outside in.

How much are most of these guys on, I'd wager not that much, apart from George who hada job with a national team?
Were all questioning the competence of them I think, well maybe they're not equipt for the role and the cost is negligible for the majority of them,?
Now why would that be and why would the owner hire them, well maybe they're easily replaced when he gets the manager he wants?
There might also be a war going on in the background between the club and the stadium owner we've all acknowledged the some PR going on in the background, the weird telegraph article about parking at the ricoh/CBS some time back, the one about the stadium last week placed in the national press the morning after Spurs game! Just a ramble!

Is this all complete bullshit and speculation?

Williams has a UEFA A License in both goalkeeping AND outfield coaching. He's been a goalkeeper coach for 15 years. There is ZERO confirmation he works on defensive coaching, but even if he did, he has one of the highest-possible qualifications you can get as an outfield coach.

Josh Eccles has played 123 games 1st team games since Dempster arrived at the club. Obviously we haven't had more academy players break through because we dropped down to League 2 when the current U18 team would've been around 10 years old and deciding where they wanted to sign. On top of this, a lot of the best ones keep jumping ship. We nearly reached the Premier League 2 seasons ago and we're still losing multiple players a year to Cat A teams. That's just the name of the game. Wolves, Man City, Aston Villa and Chelsea have all nabbed some of our highest-rated players in the past 2-3 years.

It's interesting they've just joined yet possibly drawn the same conclusion as me, well partially at least, conspirational stuff, maybe they're re like me or maybe he's has skin in the game?

I think we just have to trust MR… he’s nobody’s fool and would not have agreed to these appointments if the poster was anywhere near the truth. 7 games in ffs.

I would bet my house that the majority of people at games have zero clue who Aled Williams is or what he does at the club
Yeah it's only questioned on here that we've gone through many gk's in the space of a few years, and that doesnt mean he's rubbish per say, just a coincidence!

some of us have been on here long enough to remember when people were demanding Oggy be sacked as it was his fault any time one of the keepers made a mistake.

Adi and Dennis were arguably not without similar cv's when they joined. We can't afford the top coaches so like the players, we look for ones that can hopefully improve and progress with us. They're not the problem. They might be part of the tangled Web but so many angles, it would be harsh to blame them so quickly.

What are you on about ffs

UEFA Pro & UEFA A are two different tiers of qualification offered by UEFA. Williams has an A licence.

With an A licence he could manage at championship level, let alone just be a member of the coaching staff. A Pro licence is only needed to manage in the prem (and requires professional experience to acquire).

He is 100% a professional coach by any definition.

Could you try not to talk out of your arse so often?

I’m only quoting what the original poster said, I’m not a qualified expert on which qualifications means you can manage which league, okay maybe I could have looked into it but I took what the original poster said as meaning he’s not got a full professional licence. Maybe it’s a mistake but I genuinely can’t be arsed to check through the guidelines on what being a UEFA qualified coach means just to post an opinion on a fan forum.

Most of the stuff people post on here are people talking through their arse tbh, again I probably should have looked into it but it’s a forum for passionate, loyal, angry fans, not the International Court of Justice or some bollocks like that.

Just for comparison/debate, given they are our next opponents, this is Blackburn’s squad photo.
awful lot of staff on there, like us.
On their website the first team coaching staff - in terms of structure/numbers almost identical. Eustace has 2 x assistants.
and apart from Eustace and Rudy Gestede, I defy anyone to have heard of any of the other coaches before….
They are currently 3rd.
My argument would be that they have had a lot longer to bed in than our new coaches have, and suddenly early doors this season they are reaping the rewards. Clearly working for them.

need to give it a bit of time - like robins said he’s still looking at it and what roles people have.

players have got to perform end of the day.

One might argue ‘oh well they’re better coaches’ but who are we to judge especially after 7 league games (although I fully accept it hasn’t been good enough both in terms of results or performance levels).

Just because a coach didn’t play at a high level does not make them a bad coach. Mourinho was basically semi-pro for example.

The part about players not respecting Williams and Dempster because of their playing background is a load of bollocks. They might well be shit coaches but that’s not to do with their playing careers. Lampard and Rooney played at the highest level possible but are wank managers

They've also lost their best player by far in the summer and they are still flying

Coaching has to take the blame for where we are, the players we have should be pushing for top 6

Yeah fair enough, don’t disagree with that, I just don’t have full confidence with the coaching and/or management behind the scenes atm. Obviously I can’t say that from a point of understanding of what’s going on behind the scenes, but I just haven’t seen anything from any of the players recently that’s shown me that they know what they’re doing or are willing to put their absolute all into a game and play as a unit, and to me the buck stops with the manager.

I really like Robins and he’s been absolutely brilliant for us but currently it’s not working and if these next 2 home games have that same lacklustre quality to them then I’ll genuinely be veering on the side of Robins Out, and I honestly never thought I’d be saying that. I really hope things pick up for us because I want it to work with Robins, he seems a great guy and understands the club, I just don’t know how much longer we can go on with these shit performances and tactics.

Someone should tell Blackburn that Ben Benson’s only job before joining them was at Carlisle and he never played professionally. They’ll want to replace him immediately.
