I have been in the same position as you before. I think it’s because, after losing a fair amount, the body goes into starvation mode and adapts to the ingestion of fewer calories.

I have a theory - for which I’m not aware of any scientific basis - that, after losing two or three stones, it might be a good idea to stay at the same weight for some months to allow it to adjust again before starting to diet again.

I accept that this might be complete nonsense but when I reach two stones off (I’m halfway there) I’m going to give it a try.
That’s what I’m doing for now, maintaining where I’m at for a while before trying again with the rest.

It will have, but as a 34 year old man my maintenance calories really ought to be around 2500.

That’s an average figure though. Your body will be unique in what it burns and how efficient it is at the various tasks you do. Makes more sense to follow your body than an average IMO.

Yeah but again they don’t know you. It’s a rule of thumb. I don’t think you need to come up with a brand new scientific theory on weight loss when “this basic model doesn’t match my specific reality” is more than enough.

losing weight is actually really easy if you know what you’re doing- it’s not just about calories, it’s not about avoiding fat.. there is so much misinformation peddled by people with a vested interest its unreal. Cutting any form of sugar alone makes a big difference, that stuff is pure poison and they stick it in almost everything.

and whoever said it’s cheap- not true. Eating truly healthy is really expensive.

Yeah, it’s all about context. If someone is shovelling 5000 calories down a day, a brisk walk won’t make much difference. If someone is just overeating a bit, exercise will help to keep things in check.

yep, you worded it much better than I managed- it’s all contextual and there’s no overall rule.

Exactly,so cut the price idk, mortgages,or transport,or something else?

Just from people we know who have tried, going to the gym leads people to be hungry and overestimate how much they’ve burned so they eat much more as a result.

yep.. but also if you’re looking for healthy fats then that can be expensive too
6 portions of beef curry and rice I’ve made for this week has cost about £20 all in, and took about 20 minutes of prep to bung into a slow cooker. It’s easier and cheaper than people think but what really doesn’t help is the abundance of conflicting information.

There are very few people who’ve gone from severely obese to ‘healthy’ and kept it off, but it’s those people who can help the most because they understand the difficulties the best. At least that’s my theory

I’m one of the ones who kept it off- went from 19 stone to 13.5 and doing ok. I eat a LOT of eggs 😁 and the cholesterol thing is a myth.
