Not if you were given a bunch of people who were not up to standard to work with and your spend budget could .not complete the project to the required level

If the project was my responsibility it would be down to me to make it very clear that the staff were not up to it

The question was asked ....Does anyone know our best 11 (couldn't get the multi-quote to work)

Robins certainly doesn't

The thing is, Robins may well know his best 11. It's really not quite as simple as he doesn't know, because he keeps changing the personnel.

I am guessing Robins acts in the same manner that so many managers act.

Let's say he has Wright as one of his first names on the team sheet. Well, if Wright isn't showing well in training, or pulling his weight, he is more than likely not to be picked.

Happens in football every week, up and down the country.

I think Robins HAS got an idea who his first team 11 are, but the players have to show they are sharp and motivated and ready and busting a gut in training, in order to be picked.

Wright has looked a little disinterested at times hasn't he. That's more than likely the reason why he's in and out of the side.

Not saying that works for everyone, because I too am a bit puzzled on the Dovin/Wilson situation. Don't quite know what MR's notion is on that one, but keepers are a different breed anyway. They don't have to have bags of stamina and energy to be able to run around for 90 mins.

But anyway, if a player doesn't look sharp and ready in training, the likelihood is they may well find themselves on the bench.

Does not surprise me at all why there are often changes. It doesn't mean the manager doesn't have his ideal first team 11 in his mind.

Makes a mockery of what some have suggested is becoming some sort of Robins Out circle jerk. Quite the opposite i'd say.
I think if we stick with him he's taking us down, thought it for a few weeks now, he's been doing increasingly odd things and i cannot see him turning it around. No point in discussing it much further though. I guess wait until Luton pump us too.
What did Doug do to the playing side?

Not allowing loans. Only signing young players he thinks he can sell on as a profit. We badly need some experience on the pitch to help these young lads out.

I know it’s mentioned time and time again on here, but I would very much take it with a pinch of salt. I very much doubt a guy that knows nothing about football is dictating the transfers. What I do believe has happened, is DK has provided the funds, a lot of funds, and trusted them to spend wisely, which they haven’t.

I know I’m in the minority but I think this is shit. From a purely personal point of view, next time you’re having a tough time at work after several years of great performance maybe have a think about this. And yes I know I’ll be pounced on for saying it.

I just think it’s interesting to know what the fanbase is thinking, and if I was the owner of a football club who didn’t know jack shit about football I’d probably also be wanting to know what the people paying the tickets thought.

The difference between your job and Robins’ is that there’s not 30,000+ fans paying good money for you to be there. This forum was created exactly for fans to talk about the club, if we can’t discuss what people think of the manager then what’s the point?

These polls are fucking embarrassing.
A thread to discuss the managers position would suffice, no need for a dozen and a poll every few days.

Well more than one ITK has said that is the case. And if it is. If. Then that is interfering in the playing side.

Leeds have signed a 34 year old free agent today. If it's good enough for Leeds...

Questions won’t be answered until January whoever is manager. But we’ll find out then as whoever is in charge will want some experience in the side and go and get it then or not if they’re not allowed.

There’s an agenda against Doug/Football owners, everyone blames the owners when things aren’t right on the pitch at every club.

I suspect the reason we aren’t signing a free right now is we’ve done all the money we had. Would you give them anymore to spend? No chance

Interesting what rumours we choose to believe then.

I'm never said it's not true, but trying to get it over the line on the last day snacks of realising your policy is bollocks but by then it was too late.

And we'll know in January either way because he'll either make amends or carry on with the policy.

Do you think not utilising the loan market Is a good idea?

We were going to sign James McConnell from Liverpool on loan but he got injured
Doug sent Will to his house to take him out.

I think it would be handy to have 1 or 2 yes, sounds like we tried 1. Not sure that's an excuse to have this squad third from bottom though.

We tried!
Not fucking hard enough clearly.

Maybe not. Didn't hear many on here suggesting we'd be in a relegation battle because we didn't sign a loan though. I wanted another midfielder, many were ok with it as it was. It's been pathetic.

As a matter of interest, who was saying it was fine as it was?

I was very concerned. Knew that Allen and Sheaf were always injury prone and that we had lost Palmer too.

Left us well short. Who was saying we had enough cover? Just seems very naive for anyone to think that.

We've clearly pursued a certain recruitment strategy and its bit us on the arse.
Not sure why you can't admit that.

Of course there are other factors but, and I'm getting sick of saying it, 3 cornerstones of Robins success, experience, an assistant, utilising loans.

All gone, and in the case of the first 1 and 3, it's obvious why.
Unless you believe Robins decided to rip up the blueprint that brought him so much success.

Yes, many of us expressed concerns though there were people who thought we'd be OK. Can't remember which posters now.

Mad then that really isn't it.

We definitely look short in the midfield. Sheaf is always picking up knocks and so too, Jamie Allen.

Doesn't leave us with much at all does it

Do you think this squad should be third from bottom?
Do you think there's no chance someone else could get a tune out of them?

I don't actually care about anything other than not being total shit at this point. In my opinion employing someone who at least looks like they have a plan would help. In yours I guess not. We're going round in circles really.

You can respond to my posts I won't bite. Loads on here suggested if 'the right' player wasn't available then its best to do nothing. Personally I felt we were so short we should have been looking at our 10th choice if that's all that was available.

Regardless, as I keep saying, the position we are in is completely unacceptable.

I'd only be interested in long term improvement. And how do you guarantee that?

Not interested in bringing someone in to bounce, regress, sack, pay compo rinse repeat.

And that's a path we've been down before as have most the Championship. AndIm fairly sure that's what would happen.

And what type of candidates do you think we'd go for?
Someone doing well elsewhere? That would require compo, if they insist on bringing their own staff, thats more compo to their club plus compo to the staff we replace.

And if we do that then what does that say about the current set up?

Alternatively, there's the cheap option, someone out of work who'll happily work with the current set up, that smacks of desperation to me and we'll be back to square one in no time.

You can't guarantee anything in football can you? At some point you have to go with gut feeling, and my feeling is Robins is getting us relegated. I'm not Doug King so what I think isn't important anyway.

As for candidates, we have no idea who's available, I don't scout the foreign manager market. That's up to the owner to figure out. Obviously I'd like the next Guardiola but as I think we're on course to go down, someone who could get us to lower mid-table would suffice. Should be doable imo.

Tbh Clint mate, I hope you're right and Robins turns it around, I always hoped he'd lead us to the Prem. I'm giving my opinion on what I'm seeing and to me he looks done this season, as I've said before he's throwing shit at the wall and hoping it sticks. I'm not convinced it will.
