It only benefits people who can sit on the phone every morning at 8am. More than likely the old people who go in for a chat and those who don't work.

If I could book for next Tuesday at 4pm for example then it would be one less phone call at 8am for people who need to get in the same day.

It's no wonder people rock up to a and e. Even tried the NHS website for the GP surgery where you can put in details for the doctor to call you back.

"Call us at 8am" was the response 🤣 so for somebody who works and does the school run it's not really ideal.

Last time I needed to see a doctor I tried 3 times to get an appt and couldn't get one. Ended up paying to go private instead.

Gp surgeries aren't fit for purpose.

Agree but that’s my point they’re aren’t fit for purpose so being awkward to try and keep you away and be someone else’s problem.

My surgery does let you book several weeks ahead, depends which doctor you want to see though.

Common sense, mine don't seem to want to speak to anybody unless it's 8AM.

Sack all of the receptionists who are usually pricks anyway and replace them with AI who can work 24/7 to do simple things like make appointments and call people through to doctors rooms.

This drives me insane at my doctors. For routine stuff pre-covid I could go on an app and book an appointment weeks or sometimes months in advance.

Now I can have an appointment with the doctor, be told I need a follow up and then have reception refuse to book it while I'm there 'as we don't book appointments in advance'. I work about an hour away from home its near impossible to phone up in the morning and get a same day appointment I can fit around work.

spent 3 lovely days in A&E a few months back. was told by the staff the reason A&E is fucked is the number of people turning up because they can't get a doctors appointment.

Add in people who can't get seen by mental health services and even a surprisingly large number of homeless people who turn up every night and you start to think if the only people there were ones that actually needed A&E there wouldn't be much of a problem.

I went to A&E a few months ago. There was a bloke there for antibiotics for a tooth infection. He was in there 10 hours.

Exactly, a and e should be exactly that.

GPs should be the first stop who can then sign post.

It may have been on here, but I saw something suggesting that the reason for this is to massage the ‘waiting time’ figures. If you phone up and ask for an appointment next Tuesday you’re waiting 6 days. If they tell you to call back on the Tuesday at 8am and get you in for 10am you’ve only technically been waiting 2 hours.

How true it is I don’t know but logically it checks out.

First 15/20 minutes tonight they were far too bright, there are supernova explosions in the universe that are dimmer.

The phone call is an initial triage. There is no point them offering appointments without having done a triage as there are plenty of people who do not need to see a doctor. They should do something more dynamic but that will need significantly more investment.

Watching the Dog House and I genuinely used to think people abandoned dogs cus they'd have to pay the fees to rehome and they're struggling etc, now I know that's not the case and it's pure cruelty, I'd love to catch someone abandoning a dog in the act.

Valid point mentioned just now, if you're not a horrible, sadistic fucker why would you tether a dog to a tree in the woods with a rope rather than leave it outside a pet rescue place?

Surely some kind of ticketing system would be best? Everyone puts their issue in by 9 via phone or email/website. Then they triage all of them and assign appointments.

The phone call at mine at 8am is to try and get a call with the GP.

Phone is a bad system really, it should just be for those that can’t use the internet. These days you could have everyone leave a message that’s transcribed then someone just goes through all the messages and triages. There should be no waiting. I think that’s half the annoyance.

I know someone on there who is constantly posting showoff status updates and photos as if she's in a really glamorous job staying in luxury hotels and brokering massive deals.

In reality I know for a fact she's basically a PA/coordinator for a small company that just go and have random coffee breaks in these establishments to look important.

It's a very toxic platform.

To be fair they're supposed to offer total triage which includes using an online system, not sure how they're actually made to do it though as contract and payments based on registered list size primarily.

Did she manage to twist it to end up like recruitment or something?

I'm not sure what the point of it is any more. It's just people trying to sell without actually saying it.
