I dont think he’s much better defensively and as one of the players who just get the most touches of the ball he just doesn’t use it or drive well enough. But mostly I think an older CB will likely play the central role.
I think thomas next to an experienced CB is the best possible answer , Thomas is exceptional generally in the tackle just need some refinement to his game .

Still quite young

The reality is , we haven’t got any money until Vik is sold , so January might be a damp squib ?
Doug doesn’t want loan players, so we are snookered there , for getting possibly any experience in , so this could be a very long & painful season …… just the opposite of what we thought it would be !

He might have to get loans in for us to survive in this league. We are joint 3rd bottom for a reason

Doug needs to learn a few lessons pretty quickly.
Buying low and selling high is the exception (Hamer, Gyokeres) not the rule (Any number of examples from recent years, let’s use Hilsner as an example),
Other clubs must have sensible reasons for using loanees.

This feels the worst result of the lot at home as felt like we’d actually turned a corner

think the whole season is just going to be pretty grim

Unsure where the blame lies , probably mk should be shared between the players and Robins but when the going gets ugly they all disappear. Spineless and mentally weak bunch.

That was just so meh and so city. Derby very poor.

We can moan about set up 532 / 443 etc - but players have to take responsibility for lack of tempo and intent. Robins can take blame for how we set up, but these players an figure stuff out.

This probably reflects where we are - v inconsistent, young, naive, lacking leaders........ mid table ish team.

Will probably go and win Saturday!

Feel incredibly deflated & angry at the level of City performance last night.
I wouldn't even accept a free helicopter ride up to Sunderland on Saturday.
They can all fuck off , for now.

Let's face it even after we pulled a goal back it was hardly all guns blazing , maybe one chance the Wright header and a tame attempt

How many of us saw that performance and result coming though? So predictable… big crowd, at home, ‘in form’ and expectations high, playing a ‘lesser team’…. Then that.

It was a terrible game, both teams were crap, Derby especially on the ball. Their style is rank to watch.

They got the rub of the green on the night but yes, changing things far too late again. Robins is not a tactician and Warne has done him in this one.

Can’t see anything more than a point from next 2 games either, which means another International break where I simply can’t look at the table.

Game plan, tactics, plan B, all of this is moot if the players don’t turn up and put the base level of effort in. Derby won today by being first to balls, being positive, and throwing themselves at everything. None of that was written on an iPad.
Exactly the same as every other game we have lost.

Heaven't watched it back, but thought at the time Yates was offside when their lad flicked the ball on for their second - it seems MR has said so in his comments. Annoying (added to our poor performance)

Clutching at straws somewhat.
??? I said we played poorly. I'm just saying that I thought Yates was offside from the flick on (I sit in Block 15, so had a decent view) I looked over to the lino, who was doing the 'not in a good position, mad sprint' and realised he wasn't going to give it. I'm not clutching at straws over our performance, but we lost to an offside goal (worth a comment)?

Overall did we deserve a point?

Robins got done tactically and the team formation was completely wrong.
Saka and MVE came to life when Saka was moved wide right.
Torp is a much better no 10 where he can pass and shoot.
Wright is much better on the left than down the middle.
Rudi isn't a wing back JDS is.
Why didn't Sheaf or Eccles come and get the ball from Thomas on the half way line when they backed off. Do you expect a centre back to thread a ball through a packed defence or run through?

If we'd have won last night I would have been able to accept 3 straight wins and a loss at Sunderland as progress
So we need to beat Sunderland to put last night to bed. Which won't be easy at all.

Sheaf & Eccles strolled around last night like a couple of players who think they should be in the prem league. Sheaf in his usual laconic style set the tone by giving it away in his own half within first few minutes. They both need motivating. Stick not carrot.
