Yeah I’d have said we were playoff contenders, not for the title though. Most independent outlets had us finishing between 6th and 3rd tbf.

it’s not that unrealistic, win last night and we’re 3 points off the play offs, new manager comes in players miraculously start putting a bit more effort in, gutted for robins but maybe it’s what we needed, it’s a massive call from Doug but what if it’s the right one,This season will be all about consolidation. Expecting the new head coach to get us promoted this season is unrealistic
Steve Cooper did it at ForestThis season will be all about consolidation. Expecting the new head coach to get us promoted this season is unrealistic.
The problem for me is that unless he comes in and goes on a winning streak it’s another Peter Reid situation that quickly gets ugly.Steve Copper did it at Forest
It’d show that he’d lost the dressing room.Well if the players start putting more effort in,it says a lot about their commitment.
Presumably he has done it now to give the new manager an international break to train in.
People are so desperate to see the worst in DK.
Sacking our most popular manager in 40 years and announcing a fan forum to face questions about it. Yeah, this thread makes sense.

Surely at the beginning of th season it was pitched to alot of signings that it would be an expectation, alot on here said it was, alot of gifs/images suggesting HMS PTL Etc, sometimes signing just don't workout, or don't workout straight away.BTA said it was the expectation in his first interview after signing.
It hasnt gone unnoticed that this decision has been made when there is nearly two weeks until the next home game (also on sky)
A cowards decision to sack Robins now, and aim to control the reaction with his “fans forum” infront of a couple of hundred (at most) rather than face the music at a home game in front of 10’s of thousands.
He’ll hope to have a new appointment in place by then that will change the atmosphere and sentiment in the ground.
I have been firmly in the “Doug has good intentions camp” up until this point. I simply cannot get behind this decision and the manner in which it has been carried out.
Agreed. I didn’t think he’d sack him until the end of the season because of the fans. It’s hardly a spineless move ffs, it’s the complete opposite.Sacking our most popular manager in 40 years and announcing a fan forum to face questions about it. Yeah, this thread makes sense.

Grendel.Oh I’m bored with this - just fuck off and stop being so dramatic. This is football not a debate on preservation of the planet.
As always with football, what gets said to the media and what actually goes on are very different things. For clarity. I believe the timing of the decision is spineless
The argument doing it before the international break so the new person has time with the players doesnt stand against the statement that they havent even started a recruitment process.
Even so, we were 2 fucking days away from our next game. IF you have to do it, do it after Sunderland. They clearly couldnt risk us winning there and delaying the plan. I now feel that they were just waiting for the next bad result to do it.
I believe doing it away from the cauldron of the next home game where King, the players, the remaining coaches would likely receive a defiant response from the overwhelming majority Robins in crowd is spineless.
Hosting a “fans forum” to a couple hundred die hards doesnt mean shit. Thats lip service at its best.
Im not accepting of the results, or performances so far this season. But i believe Robins deserved the time and opportunity to turn it around. If that means we dont get promoted this year, fucking fine because there is also no assurances we would get promoted with anyone else, but the man who has done so much for this club, should have been given the time and then if it didnt turn around a proper goodbye with the fans and “a mutual decision this will be his last”
Grendel.
Fuck off you absolute wank puffin
Why sack him now then? Our chances of getting relegated improved by sacking him. If that’s the case, why not wait until the summer? This season will be all about consolidation. Expecting the new head coach to get us promoted this season is unrealistic.
Wank Puffin, qualityGrendel.
Fuck off you absolute wank puffin
I'm also curious if it's just MR going, does the new Head Coach just have to keep the exact same coaching set up? They've not exactly covered themselves in glory so far.
Only with Béarnaise sauceWank Puffin, quality
We're 14 games into the season and 7 points off the play-offs with a squad Robins was expected to be a title contender with. Why should the expectations be any lower for the new guy?
He won't lose millions, the club might though! Are there any of the original staff left now , Dennis Lawrence , viveash , robins, Dave boddy , individually maybe not the best but together they were what held us together , like others have said it started to go downhill once Dennis left , if Doug king ends up losing millions he only has himself to blame
Can you please point out where I’ve ever ‘demanded’ to get rid of Robins? This is spot on. It’s bonkers to bang on about expectations and how we were sold this and sold that, and demand getting rid of Robins off the back of it, King clearly wasn’t satisfied with results, but then say that there is no such expectation on the new manager apart from to just drift along all season.
it’s early enough in the season, the gap between us and 6th is not that big, all the stats point to finishing being an issue as opposed to us getting hammered every week & lacking talent- why on earth would the remit *not* be to aim for the playoffs? It makes zero sense.
How many managers might we have before the season ends?Is it? This is the same as the “oh the new coaches can’t be expected to show results yet”. Loads of other managers have instant impact. In fact I’d argue almost all the successful ones do. The whole point of deviating from the last seven years of consistency has to be an immediate change in direction otherwise what’s the point?
Now we’re back on the merry go round I hope if, as is statistically likely, we appoint a dud we pull the trigger sooner rather than later. Whoever it is is working with the assigned coaches and players so there’s no more “he needs to build his own squad” buffer either.
And is it available on Sky?When are tickets on sale for that by the way?
The new manager should be given time to address the issues within the squad over a couple of transfer windows, not hounded out because the fans are upupset.
