Read a lot of stuff on here. Mostly negative towards Doug. My two penneth worth. I think Doug is doing what needs to be done. Also, I think he pulled the plug on Robins at the right time. He was going nowhere.

I have a lot of respect for Robins and everything he has done for the club. However, I feel he had run out of ideas, was tinkering for the sake of tinkering. Results said he had to go. One win in the last nine championship games last season and a poor start this season.

Robins persisted playing players out of position. Last season one of our most potent partnerships was MVE left back and Saka on the wing. I can't think of one game this season where we played this. He chose to put Lati and left back and MVE further forward? Saka in as an attacking midfielder. Saka is probably the most skilled winger in the championship but he almost refuses to start him where he needs to play. Was bizarre.

I think Doug has made some great investments over the last two years and I am pretty sure he will continue to do so. I look forward to our next manager. I live I hope he will get a very strong squad performing as it should.. Onwards and upwards.

The biggest flaw in your argument is at the start of the season Sakamoto was coming back from injury. When he did play he didn't play that well and before he got match fitness got injured again and missed several more weeks.

So saying Robins needlessly split up the MVE Sakamoto partnership is absolute rubbish.

For one thing we'll know just how good an owner King is. If he gets it right he'll be seen as someone who can be utterly ruthless for the good of the club.
If he gets it wrong he'll be seen as a clown that knows nothing about football.

That in itself will determine if the club is still on an upward trajectory or if we're now stagnating.

Exactly - it's a ballsy move and King has rolled the dice.

I agree with pretty much all of the complaints against MR and felt there were doubts about his ability to take us to the next level.

But I don't think we were at the point where we needed to make a change yet- I would have kept him to the end of the season unless we were looking like going down.

Whatever happens from here on in King has no excuse now. The whole setup will be his.

Saka has started two of the last three games as a number ten. As he can use both feet, has good close control, can pick a pass and can shoot, it can be argued he is the most natural player to perform as a ten since the departure of O’Hare and Palmer. Not a daft decision by Robins at all as I think we have really missed having an effective ten.

I think that DK has seriously underestimated the strength of feeling this sacking has caused. It has been almost universally, quite rightly, condemned. DK has no wriggle room with the fans now. Either the new guy hits the ground running or both he and Doug I think will feel the wrath of the fans. A bad season now and I think ST sales will plummet next year. Where will all of this leave DK?

The lack or regard and respect for Robins in the way this was done and the timing of it is staggering. To sack someone of his achievements after only 14 games of this season after 7 years of total success is simply madness. (Don’t bring the end of last season into it as anyone with half a brain could see our very thin squad had nothing left in the tank after the semi final).

it is good to see the heartfelt response towards MR from 99% of the fan base. I’ve never seen such a response to a sacking in all of my 60 years following this club. I hope Robins gets to see and hear these comments as I think he needs to know the fondness and the regard in which he is held by the majority of City fans.

Sakamoto was that injured that he started at Stoke and played 82 minutes. Think there is an argument to say he was match fit for the first match, not really that much difference from the other 10 that started with him.

If the team aren’t playing well and do not look like progressing, I can see a big downturn in ST sales.
You could say that the same would have happened under MR if the season continued as it has started. I think people would have had more faith in Robins and his ability to produce another promotion chasing side.
I also think that Robins would have turned this season around as he has in the past if he had of been allowed to get on with the job.
If I was looking at the candidates available to become the next City manager, looking at their CV, their experience and what they’d achieved. Robins would be top of that list.
