What newspaper article?

Can we all agree to blame Andy Turner for all this?

I’ll tell you exactly what I heard

Adi had fallings out with players for his style

during the summer we tried to sign a player. The agent exact words were he won’t be signing for Coventry while vivesh is still there. word has spread about his attitude to players (mostly young players)

this caused issues

I believe robins told adi he would be staying even if they got rid of him

after adi left, he tried to contact robins and robins ignored him the whole summer

as I said on this thread the other day - Mark Robins managing another team

So yes they fell out but I believe over robins not having adi back
I thought it was over a newspaper interview but can't see anything in it to break up the partnership?

Just over 2 minutes in.
What was said?
Not everything is how it appears and I remember watching that video at the time and thinking what have I just watched?

TL;DR, but...re-reading King's comments - Transcription from his opening monologue here - https://archive.ph/XJHhh - He said -
“What happened is that Mark and Adi Viveash were the heart and soul of this football club, they dragged us up through the leagues and were very successful in that. And then it just seemed that in March/April last year that something went down. You know a simple thing as an article in the Telegraph by Andy Turner about a certain marriage, and a difficult marriage. The guys have been together a long time and I don’t know, I think it provoked something.
“Adi gave another big interview and he wasn’t authorised to do it and then everyone got a bit excited and clearly, the fall-off after the Wolves game was pretty startling. I know everyone said we were knackered after the heroic FA Cup semi-final but the reality was, it looked like something was wrong."
I think the first article about a certain marriage is this one by Robins - https://archive.ph/ZztCE - published on 10th March, where he mentioned Viveash being 'difficult' and a 'marriage' -
"We don’t get everything right, by any stretch of the imagination, but we always strive to do better and I think with our qualities we sort of rub along quite nicely together.”

A bit like being married, perhaps?

“He can be difficult, can Adi, there’s no doubt about it,” he said.

That’s a ‘yes’ then!

He continued: “He can be a difficult personality but I do not want someone who is a ‘yes’ man, and he’s not that. On the contrary. He checks and challenges, and has his own opinion on things. And he has a really strong opinion at times.

Coventry City manager Mark Robins and assistant Adi Viveash don't always see eye to eye
“Sometimes I will go with that and sometimes I don’t. And sometimes he doesn’t like the fact that I haven’t gone along with his opinion but, ultimately, he knows I’m the manager and I make the decisions. Every single decision that’s made here is my decision, in terms of the football side of things, and I am obviously directed by the owner and I have to try to make sure we do the best we can to make his wishes a reality, and that’s where we are.”
In part two of Viveash's 'unauthorised' interview, published on 27th March - https://archive.ph/NnhT4 - he denies being 'difficult to work with' -
“Whether we’re two strong characters and that’s why it works, I don’t know,” he said. “I certainly think, yes, the gaffer has said that I challenge but creating a challenging environment is one of my big strengths; how you get the culture, how you set up the training and how you demand in each session. Yes, I have no bones about saying that’s me at my best and that’s why I worked at the level I did.

“Is that challenging? Yes. Do I challenge him every minute of every day? No. As I have said before, I have never wanted to be a manager and the things he deals with, no. But if he asks me a question about how a training session went and if he says he thought a certain player trained well - if I didn’t then I would tell him, so if that’s challenging...

“Sometimes we agree and sometimes we disagree, but he’s the manager, as he’s said himself, and it starts there and ends there. I respect the fact that he’s the manager and the job he’s done. I respect what he’s done to rebuild this club and good luck to him. But I certainly don’t think I am difficult to work with.”
Part 1 - https://archive.ph/HrOnm - and part 3 - https://archive.ph/gCdGv - for completeness

So, whether that one word - 'difficult' - triggered these whole thing, who knows. It's certainly reads like Viveash was a bit peed off being called that and maybe why he decided to do the 'unauthorised' interviews. People have fallen out over a lot less...

Ami missing something but I cant see anything in that article that would cause Robins to fall out with Adi over ?

Yes.
As I've said before was it a thank you to Viveash or something else like 'see ya don't need ya'
We'll never know will we.
I think you're reading too much into it. I've worked closely alongside others that I didn't like on a personal level but we had an excellent professional relationship.

Did anyone watch what happened at the end of matches when Vivash was here. There was often a player from the opposition having a friendly chat with him, often having a laugh. So many of the players he brought in, who he had coached previously, like Collins (he treated me as if he was my dad), Palmer, JDS had so much praise for him. Now we have buried all the other bollocks conspiracy theories we get the players wanted Adi out or players wouldn't come here because of Adi. The evidence of how the players performed when Adi was here for seven years speak volumes for his abilities, not some half cooked unsubstantiated rumour that the players did not like him and wanted him out. Never let amazing success get in the way of a good made up story.

Exactly this. So many previous players have spoken warmly about Viveash, I think it's very unlikely that the club would side with 1 or 2 players that didn't supposedly like him.

It's more plausible that two stubborn men fell out and neither wanted to say sorry.

It’s also possible a minority of players didn’t like Vivesh and as the rumours that go to the ITKs are now clearly heavily in favour of MR and against DK that is what got emphasis to take the heat of Robins.

At the players awards in May Vivesh was out on the piss with the players in the afternoon in Stratford-upon-Avon, didn’t seem much animosity

its weird cause i remember when everyone would sing only one mark robins at the end of games, and the team would line up and clap the crowd, robins would always point to viveash when that was happening. As in a kind of "you should be singing his name".

Whatever their personal issues (which is all speculation), it always seemed they had a good working relationship. Odd

I don't want to don the tinfoil hat, but there are two or three things from that forum last night that are a bit eyebrow raising.

If Adi and Mark hadn't of fallen out and we still had the same form eg 23 pts out of 23 games does doug sack them both at this stage?

Everyone knows Adi was the brains. If Robins still had his old number 2, I doubt we would have achieved half of what we have in his 7 years. I doubt he would have lasted 7 years.

The Damned United.

Great film. Brian Clough needed Peter Taylor and vice versa. (Wish they had signed for Cov when Robins (ironically) was the chair. Came very close to apparently).

Final scene. Clough apologised to Taylor and they went on to achieve incredible things.

All Robins had to do, possibly, was to realise that being stubborn often backfires.

If Doug can learn anything from this debacle it's how much power Andy Turner has. He is the only journo who regularly reports on us and as a fan base he's still a very credible source.

The whole loans and refusing to sign players over 30 criticism that Doug and Dean got could all have been avoided if they'd put a statement out through Andy during the summer. Potentially in a format like this interview with Adi. All it takes is 30 minutes of Dean's time to produce an 'interview' where he denies some common rumours floating about.

It was also Ady’s little red book. We did get a few ex Chelsea in who hit the ground running since they grew up with Ady’s system. Not all worked out, granted, but there’s no doubt it helped when we were at our lowest.

Being stubborn is probably why Mark got sacked, we could all see it with tactics and substitutions etc.

He brought in a lot of crap to be honest. But we were also totally unattractive as a club.
