Of course every appointment is a risk, but for me you have to load the deck in your favour, so a manager who has club experience at some level. Also, Carsley is only used to working with the cream of the crop.

If it is him then fair enough I'd back him, but he certainly wouldn't be my choice.

Yeah, 12 years ago. He was caretaker for a matter of weeks. If he'd never played for us or didn't live locally he wouldn't get a mention on here. We are hovering above the relegation zone with a "third of a season gone" to quote others. Yeah, I was pointing out the last time he managed a club team, not coached. That was 12 years ago for a few weeks. Not for me, but who knows what will happen.

They won the league the year after he left having sold a bunch of his players for big money. Not sure if that goes down as a +ve or -ve.

I think you misunderstand, what people mean is that he is likely to want to come to us as he wouldn't have to relocate, it makes no difference after that. I suppose it may be cheaper fro the club if it is normal to pay for accommodation to relocate someone, not sure though.

It's relevant because it is perceived that it would be more interest to him than a job miles away. That seems obvious to me. Especially if he has family.

I dunno man, I think people have always been more enticed by a job if it means not having to relocate their family or have a huge logistical commute, in any walk of life. Anyway, we’ll probably end up with someone else and this chat was entirely futile lol

Football is one line of work where location is not really considered. I suppose it applies to film and tv etc also. People assume that living in temporary accommodation is fine if you’re a manager. See your family every other week and maybe only when you get to fly home. It’s weird. I wouldn’t want to do it. But then again they get paid huge money so maybe I would.

All other things being equal, would it be better if the Head Coach was settled happily long term in the area, or commuting from afar, spending a lot of time way from home/family and juggling his work with travel and accommodation arrangements?

Met a Leicester fan tonight. Had some really good banter with him and no love lost on both sides. It was actually nice to hear another’s (outsiders) opinion on MR sacking. And yes it was a Leicester fan but he genuinely thinks we will do shit now lol.
Not what I wanted to hear but as we speak he is under my bed and I will let him out once he has repented .
All serious though he is a sergeant major (in or great forces) and puts £50 on us each season getting promoted!

Why would Carsley give up the Engjand youth team - he’s working with the best medical team at a training ground with the best facilities - he only gets them together irregularly , generally gets them
All as not many are first team players - as opposed to 2 games a week - infinite press pressure and he’s got a good chance of the big job after Teuchal - once you jump out of the England role it’s all hard work - I’m sure he’s getting paid a decent wage - he doesn’t strike me as a public speaker
