Since a big plus is loans, who would people want from Chelsea on either a loan or loan to buy.

Harvey Vale seems like a decent one for us to look to pick up. Did well last year and plays an attacking wingback role on the left. On a loan to buy could be a clever piece of business to future proof for Bidwell departure and suits the overlaps Frankie wants

Can't believe I'm reading posts saying finishing 9th and being within a hairs breadth of an FA cup final is a "poor" season.

I do believe there is a portion of our fan base with a very spoilt attitude.

Are they?

That's a simplified way of viewing things.

Most people are saying we had a shite start, good middle and frankly awful end last season.

It was great in places but it's wrong to say that we were not for example shocking after the cup semi for example.

Dunno how anyone could watch that and then talk a shit about him whether they want him as manager or not
I will be a bit apprehensive whoever we get.

We had Robins for a long time. Many will have forgotten how bad things can get if things don't go right quickly. The atmosphere can get toxic.

I'm looking forward to the next stage for our club. But I'm not letting my expectations run away. This season I'm now just hoping for safety. 6 months of getting their feet under the table then getting a squad together for the way they want to play. But many won't allow this time before showing their lack of knowledge of the game.

You’ve got to remember a lot of fans such as those now knocking Robins will always knock whoever takes over. It’s to ensure that eventually they will always be able to say they were right as no-one stays forever. The fact of the matter is Robins was hugely successful for the club in the round. Now it’s time to back whoever is next.

V funny when they have to do it for seven years looking more and more unhinged though.

Because he speaks well?
Is that so bad Frostie?
Does that not count for anything?
Plain speaking, humble, self critical, appreciative of his upbringing, this love for his parents, the support he's received, the fear of failure, his desire to get things right, his successes and the lifestyle that he enjoys as a result of his chosen career.
Admirable qualities in my book sadly all too few in this world of wannabe entitled folk

No, of course, fair comments. No doubt he comes across as a great bloke & he's always been one of my favourite players in the game.

I took the "talk shit about him" to be purely on his ability as a football manager/head coach which is unproven at best, disastrous at worst. I've not seen anyone criticise him on a personal level?

Think he famously had a lively conversation with James O’Brien on live radio once on some personal issues

I did actually see Kevin Kyle in the bookies over the road from that Spoons, he was spending a fucking fortune.

That's quite believable.

I heard an interview with him a few years ago where he said he had been cleaning toilets on ferries because he had gone bankrupt after spending all his money following football.

He came across well in the interview, and I felt quite sorry for him, but he's obviously made some very silly decisions.

So because we had a small period of 3 months where we had some nice wins against Leicester and Sunderland away, we can forget about the rest which has been really, really poor. If you look at the fixtures last season, either side of the winter period, it's scary how bad it is.

We have spent £45m. You can dress it up as money that's been made but even if we started from a squad of 0, we still spent £45m. We've spent more than any side without parachute payments.

Stop re-writing history, our form from November through to the end of February was P20, W10 , D6 , L4 = 1.9ppg which is solidly play off form if not borderline automatic procurement.

Edit, adding in March it was P24, W13, D10, L5 = 2.01 ppg which is automatic promotion form. That's half a season's worth of games not just 3 months, 5 months.

Had we spent £45m by that point?

Kitching: £4m
Thomas £2m
MvE £3.5m
Sakamoto £1.5m
Wright £7.7m
Simms £3.5m

£24m ish

The way our fan base abused him was inexcusable in my view. Yes he was a limited footballer, but that doesn’t excuse the vitriol he received.

It didn't help that he turned down a move to Wolves and returned back from his loan there as he admitted he would rather sit in the bomb squad and take more money
