I think illegals are made well aware of what they can get before they arrive here, and if not before, very shortly after. If they had to pay for healthcare and accommodation, they probably wouldn’t come here. They are quite happy to pay criminals a fortune for a place on a boat though.

That advice also extends to the benefit of having misplaced your identity documents.
You cannot be an illegal asylum seeker.

Friends who I love and respect are talking about single males raping their daughters I really do fear the country is on a knife edge without some visible action to change things
Or even information of what the plan is and how we are dojng
Are we deporting more people? Are we reducing the length of time cases are taking to resolve

So has the Delta Hotel in Warwick.
It's now housing 350 single male "asylum seakers" it was taken over by the home office last weekend, with the hotel having just 24hrs notice, and locals only finding out after the fact.

Apparently the home office is quietly looking at taking over a number of other hotels in the area as we speak.

I know it’s trendy to say we have no influence and we have weak leadership
It’s not how we are seen by many other nations across swathes of areas whether it’s science or our part in shared institutions like the un and echr

The world looks with envy at our democracy and our legal system again I know it’s trendy not to
I really don’t think it does these days. Even in Italy the perception of the UK has completely changed compared to 15 years ago.

There are legally proscribed routes to seeking asylum, arriving on a boat without papers is not one of them.
You are technically correct, but the people coming in boats are illegal immigrants who are then claiming to be seeking asylum.

They have arrived here from a safe country.

Not for all countries there aren’t.

I hate to say it, but the level of fraud worldwide in the asylum system is going to end it wholesale and I don’t know what happens then.

TBH shmmeee I’m not in the least bothered about other countries processes. If it all goes tits up genuine asylum seekers will just have to blame the gangs - perhaps they will smash them on Sir Kier’s behalf.

No our processes. We only have legal routes for people from a limited number of countries is my understanding. Some places the only way to claim asylum is by arriving here.

When your claim might not be considered

Your claim might not be considered if you:

  • are from an EU country
  • travelled to the UK through a ‘safe third country’
  • have a connection to a safe third country where you could claim asylum
Generally, a safe third country is one that:

  • you’re not a citizen of
  • you would not be harmed in
  • would not send you on to another country where you would be harmed
Also

Documents you must provide

You’ll need documents for yourself and your dependants (partner and children under 18) for your asylum screening.
Documents you should bring (if you have them) include:
  • passports and travel documents
  • identification documents, for example identity cards, birth and marriage certificates or school records
  • anything you think will help your application
——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
So many turn up on the boats without documents.

On the basis of the above, should anyone turning up in the boats be considered a true asylum seeker.

Legally or in my opinion? I’m fairly sure international law is such that you just have to make it to the country. As I said above I think the scale of fraud for asylum seeking across the world has probably made such a system untenable.

How much does accommodating illegal immigrants cost?
I have no idea but it’s an obscene amount of money for the public to pay, especially considering the RF’s wider wealth. There’s also next to no benefit to taxpayers/the economy outside of London.

So it’s justified so long as it results in people spending more money, do I have that right?

Spending millions and millions in housing illegal "migrants" ✔️

Spending millions and millions on an historical event, crowing the king of our own country ❌️❌️❌️❌️❌️❌️

Regardless of if you're for the monarchy or not, the spending would have been recouped in part or even maybe a profit, unlike the hotels that are now unavailable for the public to spend money in.

Regardless if you’re for immigrants or not, the spending on hotels will eventually be recouped in part or even maybe a profit. So I guess we’re…..good?

Show your workings on how housing migrants in hotels will generate revenue/profit please.

Extra people = extra economic activity + extra tax revenues

I’m sure some will end up being a net drain on public finances but so long as the net benefit is greater than the cost of the hotels then presumably it’s a money spinner and you’ve no problem with it

It’s impossible really to evaluate given additional requirements on health education etc

It's not just finances, it's the whole scenario.

Just out of interest, do you live near/have stayed or been past any of these hotels?
