Why are folk railing against King, there are so many conspiracy theories on him its ridiculous. The only thing majorly that he has done has been to sack a manager that had 6 wins in 20 odd games which most owners would do. Everything else he has done is to improve either the off field activities, match day experience and rid the club of the biggest idiots in business. I cant understand the vitriol unless you were a Sisu fan? Give the bloke some credit, the negativity is unfounded and he is trying to get things better for all of us.

The thing is - he said at the forum that it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Rhys Carr takes the next few games

We get to the next few games with Rhys Carr in charge and low and behold…

some of the complaining really is petulant

So as a breakdown, if Tom from the Mail is right, we conducted second interviews yesterday.

We all know Lampard is involved, Gimoc stated Eustace had an interview yesterday which lines up with Tom.

Do we think it’s just those two left or any further? Think I saw reported that it was final three this week but haven’t heard anything about the third candidate.

The reaction to the likely installation of Lampard tells you exactly why we won’t have him in charge officially until the Cardiff game.

Sheff United and Burnley are two fixtures where the odds are against us. Lampard's honeymoon period is likely to be short and a defeat in either with him at the helm could lead to a v tricky time with the fans.

Home to Cardiff in 8 days and a chance at a fresh start however seems much more manageable….

I've heard some fans on other platforms saying King should go. Good luck with that , assuming someone could afford to buy him out. Give me King any day over the cancer that was Sisu.

Most of us seem to fall into three groups.

Lampard would be a great signing.

Lampard would be a poor signing.

Lampard could be a very good signing but it could also go very wrong.

I'm firmly in the 3rd group. My expectations would be middle of the road. Whoever we get would have my backing. But I won't follow them blindly. They will have to earn praise just like they would have to lose my confidence in them. A poor start won't make them a poor choice just like a good start won't mean success is on its way.

He did help develop Mount, I said that. I said with the exception of Bogle he didn't really develop any of Derby's own players.

In terms of metrics for his year at Derby being woeful:

xPts 15th
xG 19th
xG/per shot 21st
xGA 15th

There's no shame losing to Villa or Leeds but those underlying numbers are very, very worrying & clearly unsustainable for a team to consistently challenge at the top end. As I said, they were dragged into the playoffs by individual superstars playing below their true level, not due to any tactical or managerial genius. One example being Harry Wilson top scoring with 15 goals but 7 of them being from outside the penalty area, this is not repeatable stuff.

They finished 6th the previous season under Rowett as well but Lampard's team got fewer points, scored fewer goals & conceded more than Rowett's. So again, yes he has helped improve individual players (mostly for Chelsea's gain) but did he really improve Derby?

Interesting, I hadn't realised this.

I've not actually seen many people say he'd be a great signing with no caveats tbh.

Having come round to the idea, I quite like Lampard as an option because at least he is likely to get respect from the players immediately thanks to his achievements as a player, and he's got plenty of experience in the public eye and taking criticism which he is likely to receive unless it all goes absolutely perfectly.

I suspect whoever we hire has a high chance of going badly simply because they won't get much sympathy from fans to begin with.

That said, I still don't believe we're in any danger of relegation so worst case scenario is we have a season to forget and look for a new manager again in the summer.

Thanks man, I knew they were similar to where they actually finished but haven't had chance to look again today.

No doubt that was a great year for him in tough circumstances. As mentioned earlier, my concern is that appears to be the blip & even then it ended badly too.
