Still agree that 3 smart signings turns this all around. Not writing all the players off just yet but they've got into some really bad habits that will take time to iron out.

Ok so if being pedantic then lets say 15 months from when transfer business was concluded.

It's not being pedantic, it's a fact that this group of players were achieving far better results until quite recently.
What's gone wrong? We've all got our theories and it's probably a combination of a few factors but I think Lampard has a real job on his hands sorting this shower out.

Hopefully I'm wrong and once he's spent some meaningful time with them he can turn it round.

Defending has to get sorted soon or we won't move up the table. How players react to conceding is almost as much of an issue. Last two games, did ok first half, concede early second half and they go into their shells. Lampard called it out. If he can fix it, we'll improve. If he can't, we're in trouble.

It’s a group mentality that needs fixing. Hopefully the coaches Lampard brought in will do some of this but you need at least two or three on the pitch and we have zero players capable right now.

Exactly this. Mentality is just miles off atm.

That's where I am

3 signings and it could totally transform us

No idea how true the rumours are but MvE Simms and Sheaf all look like they’re sulking. Wright is great but more laid back than Cheech and Chong.

It’s the Barnsley Boys that really boil my piss though. The on pitch attitude of Thomas Collins and Kitching is fucking disgusting and I want all three out of the club or in a bomb squad quite frankly cos that shit is toxic.

the same thing some were saying weeks ago holds true, we still need some kind of grizzled, experienced head- loan or permanent- on the pitch to stop the stupid mistakes, hand out some bollockings and galvanise them. That alone would fix a few things

I don’t think we are shit at all….but we have become bang average. Problem is, that has come off the back of a lot of pre season expectation and optimism and therefore feels like we’ve gone badly backwards.
A guy next to me summed up the keepers yesterday when he said we have 3 number 2’s. The defence is weak, we are conceding 2 a game right now. The midfield needs a leader and an innovator and the forwards without Haji look a bit impotent. We’re really missing a centre forward who can win headers in the penalty area. We throw that many balls in and hardly ever win anything.

Not replacing the experience in the squad was a massive error as far as I'm concerned.
I've overly simplistic but I agree more experience, certainly at CB would be really useful. You'd have to class the likes Bidwell and Sheaf as experienced Championship players though and they've been just as guff as the rest.

Neither are talkers really. Not like Fadz Kelly or Godden.

At this point I think the reason why Kitching isn't playing is likely non-football reasons.

Yeah. I think it has to be, hasn't it.

It's the only thing that makes real sense.

I wonder if we will try and offload him in the transfer window

Yeah, I'm not saying that's the one and only issue. But it is an issue.
Someone was telling me yesterday that McFadz rarely gets, say minutes at Blackburn but he's always warming up and shouting instructions to the defence, we miss that.

Coaching and tactics will sort the defence out, individually good to very good championship players, its obviously more than coincedence that the defence has gradually gone to shit since DL left.
We definitely need a stronger man or men in DM/CM than either Sheaf or Eccles are or can be, someone to lead and prepared to get stuck into the defensive side of midfield, coaching again, if we are playing three in midfield we need to make sure they are not leaving Grand Canyon sized gaps for opposing teams to play through which happens way too often.

Up front I think we are fine, some very good players and an absolute gem that could end up a monster of a striker if his early potential proves.
We have been lucky and unlucky in equal measure on the pitch, the major issues are on the pitch in Defence and MDF and in my opinion (FWIW) most of the problems can be coached out.

The players being shit isnt the problem they are far from it, the problem is the coaching and tactical coaching they are receiving!
Very good post 👍

If we win 3 in a row no one is gonna be talking about 45m wasted let's be honest
45 million wasted has always been overdramatic as that suggests you'd get nothing back for it, which is nonsense. It's not performing as a 45 million group should though, that's for sure, and that's Lampards task.

It’s across the board with signings in the last two years. Even if we get shot is the club happy that it’s fixed the problem at source? If King thinks we’ve got brilliant players what odds him allowing us to replace them?

Yeh we do miss that guy, more than I thought we would.

Of course not.

People have forgotten how crap they were saying Simms was last season.....until he hit his purple patch.

We might not see the best of BTA or EMC until next season.

Some hit the ground running, others take time to show their worth

That's not to say I am not concerned about Simms seemingly going backwards again this year.

One positive of FL coming in is being Kings pick and a big name he should carry a lot of weight and hopefully King will listen to him when he needs to.

Well he's not going to be writing off £45 million is he. That's why he wants to see if Lampard can get more from them, its totally logical.
If we need to spend more we will I'm sure but it'll have to slow down, you can't spend forever or you end up in real trouble as we all know.

Lampard has been in the job for 3 days

We’re not in the relegation zone

We’re scoring plenty of goals

Our best player will return from injury soon

We’ve got Jan coming up to address issues with the squad

Stop losing your minds over a DRAW.

We’ll be fine this season. We’re not getting relegated. We’ve seen what these players can do. Calm the fuck down and stop shitting the forum up with threads about how all our players are shit and other associated bollox.

Were you happy clapping, singing the Frank Lampard song at the end? Gone are the days where people earn a song I guess.

Some points I’d agree on - to have a go at Lampard after he’s had 1.5 training sessions with players is ridiculous. There would be barely any time to do anything more than tweak what RC was doing.

My issue is with the ‘deck’ and specifically CM and the whole defensive unit. We might have plenty of defenders and goalkeepers but none are any good (except for MVE who has been average at best this season) and we lack any creativity and reinforcements in CM.

Our squad is talked about as being better than its because of the forward options. The rest of the deck is in a worse condition than the one on the Titanic.
