As I said yesterday if Robins has assembled a shit squad, and is a shit manager, then the absolute lowest any manager should be getting with them is 9th and a few cup giant killings. Yeah, I'm not saying that's the one and only issue. But it is an issue.
Someone was telling me yesterday that McFadz rarely gets,say minutes at Blackburn but he's always warming up and shouting instructions to the defence, we miss that.

One thing I noticed yesterday was that Frank Lampard was very vocal from the technical area and pointing out to some players where they needed to be etc.

I agree Cam, it’s way too soon to judge how Lampard is going affect us, he’s had one game to see how we play and hopefully over the next 5-6 games he’ll begin to figure out what the issues are what he needs to implement in order to get us playing better.

I hope by the start of the New Year we begin to see a style of play and look more comfortable in defence, I’ve yet to see us “own” a play style since we sold Gyokeres/Hamer.

Will say as a positive (rewatching the game), the first half was decent for a first match.

Stupid first goal to concede as no one even marking the player for them but got back into it, was happy to see us running at players and thought there was some clever play. Great ball by tats to get us in it and happy for Mason to get one.

Don’t know what happened second half as all intensity and almost interest drained from the lads when they came back out and we concede a stupid goal. Happy we drew but we need better than draws.

First game, will be interesting to see how we are at Millwall, will take time to get the lads confidence back and learn the new tactic and shape (seemed to be a few times where we seemed a bit confused and hesitant on the ball and in defence).

Having reflected don’t think it’ll do Milan any good to drop him right now, but need to get into his head. I know people will talk about Round pegs and square holes but feel Jack Rudoni should move to tats role and play in the half space for Millwall and to bring Binks to play the left back role just to offer some defence shape (plus he did well at moving the ball forward in the back three).

Not sure if Collins has a good chance of saving either but still want Dovin to come in to start developing

I don’t agree with this- not everyone did. It’s more that someone starts shouting and going mad saying “he’s garbage”, “he’s L2 level”, “nobody else would sign him”, then that becomes the accepted wisdom on here and everyone piles on because it’s the cool thing to say. Like Simms last season, and like now with it now becoming cool to paint Robins as worse than he was, make out that we spent £45m with nothing coming back in, and going around shouting that we’re in a relegation battle in November.

Whilst I'm here I've got call out the bloke sat on his own in east stand block 25 SS yesterday. Fucking embarrassment. It was like having the worlds angriest audio description playing the entire match. From minute one he was shouting top of his lungs jumping on everything the players did, zero consistency raging if they didn't put a cross in, losing his mind when they did because we aren't big enough to score. That sort of bollocks. Calling players cunts for not doing exactly what he would have the moment they received the ball.

Literally everyone around were rolling they eyes when he opened his gob. Grim. Not arsed about the language but did tell my lad that it's totally pointless being that angry all the time, if you start out at that level of anger you have nowhere to go when something actually bad happens.. plus every thinks you are embarrassing.

I thought Tats and EMC were pretty fluid first half drifting inside when the other had the ball. EMC will suit that better.

I feel like Simms would have have been a better fit than Norm especially first half. We needed a more physically imposing target in the middle. I'd have backed him to bury one of the headed opportunities that we passed up.

Norman needs space to burst into which just wasn't there yesterday, maybe needs to be used in games we chasing on the counter until he bulks up a bit.

See I don’t think that’s dumb personally. I know video game and all that but helps people visualise the idea. Use FM for the same reason.

On your point, When I’ve read up on Lampard, the big theme seemed to be inverted wingers and opposite feet driving into the centre with one of two cms to form a narrow 4-2-3-1, other cm would offer support outlet where the DM would act as cover for the CM who moved up.

Tats should match this as last year he cut inside frequently playing in Milan, but I think the issue is last year he was an unknown and now everyone kicks him to shit.

I think Jack Rudoni could play this role as we say him moving with the ball more and he’s left footed suiting the inverted want.

Maybe if we do sign that CM (obviously not but billings would be perfect) to move into the 10, it could end up by a permanent role for him

This is the decision I didn’t get at all. Lampard teams love to cross, was surprised to see Simms not start as he’s the ideal model for this.

Big reason I think he had alot of advice from pre existing staff on the personal yesterday ( which is fair enough as he’s had two days)

18 months ago we made a playoff final , 7 months ago an fa cup semi final and 6 months ago we finished 9th In the championship

That's my biggest worry ! Just over a week ago DK said to the media when asked if we could add to the deck in January 'How many more players could possibly needed 8,9,10' or something along those lines. At the start of this season the common theme amongst those that watch us was defensive and midfield positions need improments, I don't recall anyone suggesting he should sanction 2 more strikers. DK has an ego bigger than his wallet and if he thinks he can achieve his objectives by employing a high profile manager and enhanced training facilities without getting a full pack of cards he's going to be disappointed.

It's not unreasonable to expect that after spending that amount performances should be way better than they have been. With no improvement there is no doubt that we will be in a relegation battle. There were no signs latterly under MR that anything was improving
