Gonna sound really dumb but I play a sort of 433 in FUT that’s similar with the wide forwards more like AMs and the midfielders wider like a 4321 or even a 4141 more than a 4231 or 433.
I put wingers in those positions at first, but the spaces they take up aren’t quite right. It can work really well to create overloads, but mostly those players are picking it up in the space at the corners of the box or near the centre circle more than on the flanks, the fullbacks and wide central mids do more of the overlapping runs down the wings.
I think EMC can play that role a bit as he cuts in and wants to hit the back post, but Tats is at his best out wide. Not sure if he could play the wide right CM slot and Rudoni on the left, but we haven’t got the right AM type to play his narrower role. Palmer or O’Hare would have been perfect.
See I don’t think that’s dumb personally. I know video game and all that but helps people visualise the idea. Use FM for the same reason.
On your point, When I’ve read up on Lampard, the big theme seemed to be inverted wingers and opposite feet driving into the centre with one of two cms to form a narrow 4-2-3-1, other cm would offer support outlet where the DM would act as cover for the CM who moved up.
Tats should match this as last year he cut inside frequently playing in Milan, but I think the issue is last year he was an unknown and now everyone kicks him to shit.
I think Jack Rudoni could play this role as we say him moving with the ball more and he’s left footed suiting the inverted want.
Maybe if we do sign that CM (obviously not but billings would be perfect) to move into the 10, it could end up by a permanent role for him
