Anyone else notice the urgency and intent foul or no foul, to win the ball back as quick as possible whenever we found ourselves our of possession?
Another classic Pep Guardiola tactic that he has used at FC Barca all the way to Man City.
Have you defence at the half way line
Create overloads, build slowly, create overload.
Loose possession > aggressive in winning g back possession, opposition is now likely out of position, space will be there to take advantage and you have 10 players in opponents half to take advantage of this.
This is what Lampards coaches have adopted, can be very risky when you have the likes of Bobby Thomas in your team, but we have Eccles, Torp and Sheaf who as a midfield can play this football and overload parts of the field or be used as quarter back types when our wing backs want to go forward.
This type of football will work and will get better providing our players gain confidence and typically that comes with solid performance and or winning games.
We will have games tho where teams will wait for our defenders to come as far up the pitch, sit on the half way line and then try and slice a pass through our centre backs for a rapid forward to run on to, however
Our 2 new coaches had MVE sat central on the half way line yesterday while we were attacking on some occasions, MVE was almost acting as a centre half, he is fucking rapid so if that counter tactic was used, MVE would have been able to match any forward for pace.
Facts are tho, we need a new centre half and a new left back either in Jan or end of the season. Bobby can't play this style naturally, and this type of football is what generally sees you promoted.
