Whose hands are they, shmmeee? Old people?
Private landlords, oligarchs, trust funds etc. Couple that with council not building enough social housing and/or selling social housing off in bulk to housing agencies. When old people die not enough of that housing goes directly to the people who will end up living in it. That could have been addressed decades ago.

It is probably means different things to different people. For me it is the prioritisation of the demands and feelings of a vanishingly small minority over those of the majority. Expemplified perhaps by a PM who cannot define what a woman is. One day a “woman“ with a cock will rape a woman without one in a woman’s only space ( for all I know it may already have happened) and that will be the fault of the woke brigade..

People born male being allowed to participate in female sports. I’m sure it’s an age thing, but honestly, I think it’s madness.

The fact is the best chance of your property falling into the hands of your grandchildren to live in when you die, short of you willing it to them, is for the property market to stagnate while average earnings catch up while ensuring that it doesn’t fall into the hands of private landlords by culling buy to let and curbing how much you can spend in relation to your earnings. We should have done that 20 years ago.

Pretty sure it will be the fault of the perpetrator. That’s typical how crime works. What you’re saying isn’t even tangible. Women are far more at risk of toxic masculinity and the statistics overwhelmingly back that up unlike the bollocks you just spouted. If women safety really is at the heart of your concern you’re backing the wrong horse. There’s a reason why people like Brand and Tate grift off to the right, it’s a safe haven for them. Brand is quite possibly single handedly responsible for more sexual abuse cases than the entirety of the British trans community.

If there are no private landlords, how are people going to be able to rent a property to live in until they can afford to buy?

You are right about crime being the fault of the perpetrator. Facilitators would have at least some moral responsibility - which is really what I should have said in the first place.

The stats are bound to be as you have described as the trans community is so small, and yet its voice carries such a disproportionate weight.

There was a report of nurses having to share a changing room with an intact male - female trans and feeling uncomfortable and complaining. Not unreasonable (the complaint) to me but the hospital management sent them off to be educated. Brain washed more like.

If the boot was on the other foot, management would have taken a very different stance.

How much you can spend on what in relation to which earnings?

Buy to let is already a lot less attractive proposition than it was 20 years ago.

When a lot of old people die, there properties need quite a lot spending in them to bring them up to a modern standard. Developers / landlords and the like seem keener to do that than private buyers for owner occupation.

Im not sure you could or even should stop people selling to the highest bidder. I think executors have a responsibility to maximise the value of the estate for the beneficiaries (and IHT purposes).

All of this waffle is just avoiding the undeniable fact that house prices have sky rocketed compared to wages and it has serious social and economic impacts. The housing bill is huge. People can’t move to London and be productive if they want to. Huge swathes of otherwise disposable income is sent to landlords and often out of the economy.

You’re pretending as if someone’s suggesting dropping prices to zero and shooting all landlords and not just building enough homes so that we have a similar amount to other countries that don’t have our problems.

In a danger to column inches the real issue is other demographics are underreported. That has been largely driven by the political ideology of the right needing a cover story and a compliant majority right leaning press.

Jesus Christ you’re scraping the bottom of the excuse barrel. People are free to sell to anyone they like, you’re completely missing the point. The point is that the housing market has been pushed out of the aspirations of a generation by design. You may have done well out of it and I know I have but that is coming at a huge cost to my children and your grandchildren. I had opportunities my children are unlikely to ever see if things continue as they are and I happen to have more aspirations than returning my children back to a Dickensian lifestyle of being trapped in rented accommodation beheld to rich landlords. Maybe you don’t like your grandchildren, I don’t know.

For sex crimes or just crime? Trans are 4 times more likely to be a victim of sex based crimes than someone born into the same sex. Plus look at the cover ups some demographics benefit from. The police especially. When you hear a case such as Wayne Cousins it’s unbelievable that he was allowed to an officer in the first place let alone the protection he got as an officer. The wives of police officers are also far more likely to be the victims of domestic abuse than average.

What data is this based on?

Purely anecdotal but where I live the vast majority of properties that come on the market are due to a death. The ones sold to owner occupiers then see a never ending parade of tradespeople for the next few months as the property is modernised. The ones that appear on the rental market have the bare minimum done to ensure they meet legal reuiqrements and are on the market asap. And once someone is in you can forget much in the way of maintenance.

For example my neighbour has rented for years, doesn't cause the landlord any bother but when something needs doing that is the landlords responsibility it takes months to get done and is then done by a mate of the landlord to a shit standard. Of course he could move, except its near impossible to find anywhere round here to rent as the endless "does anyone know any rentals coming up" posts on the local Facebook group show.

I moved here 8 years ago, at that point a plan to build a large number of homes nearby was several years in. To date there's zero sign of any work actually starting to build them yet demand for housing in the area continues to increase.

Sex crimes. Mostly because offenders use it as a way to get better treatment because it’s unfalsifiable. But there’s no evidence trans women commit sex crimes at any lower rate than any other man, research shows no difference in offending patter post transition.

My post is based on the same as most of yours: personal observation locally. TBF its mainly been bungalows.

Im surprised your neighbour can’t find anywhere else to rent. According to shmmeee, a huge proportion of property is owned by landlords of one sort or another.

In terms of your local development not having started yet, there have been some issues in the interim haven’t there? Material prices have been very high, perhaps the developer doesn’t think there will be a profit in building and selling yet.

What data are you using to conclude that demand for housing is continuing to increase? New business set ups? Queues outside estate agents? Properties selling very quickly?

Yes of course it does. State schools have been chronically under funded for a decade. School building plan being drawn up now.
My school in 80s (under Thatcher) never had enough text books to go round, always sharing 1 between 2 books and was hugely problematic for homework!

By woke crusade you mean being more concerned about the problem areas where my daughters are more likely to be effected by. My daughters are 15 and 17 and are yet to be harassed by the trans community, both on the other hand have been subjected to harassment by toxic masculinity and incel repeatedly. Woke actually just means you’re aware of the issues in the world. I don’t deny that there’s a conversation to be had about women’s safety around elements of the Trans community but it doesn’t start with triggered people like yourself. Especially when there are far more bigger threats to women you're happy to ignore.

I didn’t say I am happy to ignore anything. Triggered is such a pejorative term.
The wokeness that irritates me is around the overreaction and sensitivity to issues affecting a very small number of people who have made personal decisions and then expect the rest of the world to fit in with them and for them to be prioritised.

Interestingly there’s far less judgement in the men’s prisons I’ve been around than in wider society. Prison service makes sure trans gender females are in the male estate though
