I think the world needs to be careful what we wish for. The overthrow of so-called despots like Gaddafi and Saddam, and now Assad, leave vacuums which have the potential to be populated by other actors which could cause further instability and threats to geopolitical stability.
HTS has been on the UK's list of banned terrorist organisations since forging alliances with al Qaeda and then ISIS. While HTS appear to have broken away from them (though they are in complete disarray nowadays), just because their leader is going to change his name to something slightly less "jihadi" doesn't mean that the new islamist leadership in Syria is going to be any less abhorrent towards certain sections of the population than the Taliban is in Afghanistan.
Our enemy's enemy is not necessarily our friend. We backed the Taliban against the Mujahiddin, don't forget. See where that got us!
