Yea let’s turn on our best manager of recent times.

And now our best midfielder. Like him or not, think he’s overrated or not, he is our best midfielder and we need him to start playing again.

He was poor today, and has been since he came back, but he doesn’t suddenly become shit.

Re his demeanour. I assume most people here have played football - or you can even equate it to work - naturally your head is going to drop somewhat when your constantly losing games and have no faith in the players (colleagues) around you. Doesn’t mean he wishes he left.

But we love a worst case scenario on here.
Sheaf is absolutely our best player and the one I would make the focal point. He was poor at Preston but honestly think it came from a position of trying to much.

He was trying to be the goal scorer or too much an ambitious pass and think that’s just due to the pressure of the situation. Would love to see a 5-3-2 with him as DM dictating the play.

Sheaf will be gone in January or at the very best, next summer.

Can slag off his current performances all we like, it'll be a huge hole to fill, and it'll be a far bigger hole than O'Hare was

That a didn't take long - O’Hare 3/10 – Non-existent and starting to annoy me now. Frustrating again and not a threat. Lost the ball easily, went to ground pathetically and weakly and not able to hold the ball. Just looked completely lost and not a factor. Needs taking out of the team. Just looks a bit of a nothing player to me. I keep hear he works hard but I am not seeing it. Teams just knock him off like a fly.

Surprising, always thought O'Hare was pretty strong for a smaller guy. I do miss him, but the things they are saying sound familar, wasteful, and flatters to deceive. He seemed to have got rid of that when he came back strongly in Dec/Jan last season. Then he lost his place.

Showing why he failed to get an upgrade from the Championship.

But still performing below the levels he showed here by the sound of it.
Even if only based on work rate.
To be fair his comeback was very strange - he came back almost totally the opposite player. Pre injury he covered so much ground both pressing and supporting attacks and was very tidy with his feet but never looked like a goalscorer - rarely shot and was poor when he did.

Post injury he came back looking like a natural goalscorer but posibly having lost some of that mobility. He obviously regressed during that season but I think a lot of people put it down to having an eye on his next club.

Sounds like he might have just reverted to the worst of both worlds tbh which wouldn't really surprise me - that hot streak was extremely unrepresentative of his career until that point.

He’s quality. When we’re not desperate for a result and just playing to our own strengths it’s so much better. Let the players do what they are good at

Been wanting to see him in that Busquets kinda role for years and he excelled in the second half yesterday

Ever since Hamer left the onus has been on him to be the main creative force but it really isnt in his skillset despite having good technical ability

He should be a destroyer in front if the back four out of posession and the conductor of the orchestra in posession, with others doing the creative stuff in the final third

He has been absolute wank this season
He was my favourite player the last few years, was sublime at breaking up play and getting us on the front foot quickly

This season, dreadful. Doesnt drive us forward anymore, cant pass, sidewards or back when he does, doesn't motivate or anything

Him and Milan have gone from our 2 best players to 2 of our worst

Ideally, both would be given some time out of the side but there's too much of an imbalance in the squad. I'm not convinced Sheaf is over his injuries at this point.

Agreed, it also looks like in Lampards system he wants Sheaf to sit Infront of the back 4 and not drive forward.

They’re all dreadful. Never seen a bunch of players go shit like ours this season. Not a single player bar Eccles hasn’t massively regressed.

I thought he was lucky to stay on when Eccles was subbed . Wasn't a lot between them stats wise but Eccles was showing more and trying to bee progressive , Sheaf was just ambling around

Yeah, this.

I am not buying that Sheaf is awful.

Same with MVE.

But they have gone from playing consistently well to well below average this year.

If they keep playing like this their options might not be as good as they once hoped.

I don’t think it’s intentional. I just think once your head is turned you naturally switch off. Small differences have big impacts at this level.

None of the players signed up for Doug’s Wild Relegation Ride TBF.

Supplied by Austin. If you’re awaiting some huge improvement in January you’re in for disappointment. Same if you’re expecting a full rebuild in the summer. King was very clear the problem was the coaching not the players.

It’s up to the players to pull their heads out their arses and start performing then. They need to stop looking around elsewhere and take some collective responsibility
