Sheaf is frustrating and maybe we need to accept he's never going to be an in the box scoring midfielder we need currently ,especially as he can't shoot... but it needs to be him and Torp starting.Sheaf was sloppy yday. But Eccles was the worst midfielder so not sure u can really drop sheaf?
Of course everything clicking together is the sign of an effective coaching setup.
wright makes things happen. even during the worst games, he will generate a chance or 2.The much anticipated boost and stiffening of midfield from Sheaf’s return from injury never happened did it, and he s under pressure and getting pelters but is it really all his fault?
My big worry is loads on here keep saying the same for Wright, ‘ we’ll be better when he comes back’ but again it’s to much to expect him to lift the team single-handedly.
Ahh yes, another player deemed not good enough for us who's now playing for a better team.Funnily enough, it pretty much mirrors O'Hares return from injury and then drop off in form.
So what you're saying is this
Aug 2023 - ineffective coaching set up

Mar 2024 - effective coaching set up

He must still be carrying an injury. Same with MvE.I hope Sheaf can recapture his form soon, as he doesn’t look like half the player we know and love.
Hamer masked Sheaf limitations, we need support for him. His footballing IQ along with a few of our current squad is very low.
There's no midweek game, no-one needs resting in the next gameI would rest him next game
Sheaf was brilliant last year; Hamer did nothing for him then.Hamer masked Sheaf limitations.
Up to a couple of games ago, Eccles had been our best player.Seems like Eccles progress has come to a halt this season.

Bar a couple of poor 5 yard passes I thought he was pretty good yesterday
He's definitely been rushed back.he's clearly still no 100% right
Sheafs main plus is he can calm our play by putting his foot on the ball and passing it 10 yards sideways or backwards usually.
He doesn't shield our defence very well, which is a priority, because he is so slow and not very aggressive.
Tbh I'm not sure calming our play is what we want right now. Our tempo is so slow and ponderous already.
Feel like his role has changed slightly under frank and maybe that's giving the illusion he's not involved , I can't be sure but that's what it feels like
He’s sitting more as the third defender almost instead of a fullback tucking in like his first game. I never liked Sheaf post Haner as a more box to box midfielder TBH. I think defensively and his passing ability are his strengths. Much rather him
Bringing it out than Lats or Thomas.
No I agree with you, he did seem to be holding that position.Feel like his role has changed slightly under frank and maybe that's giving the illusion he's not involved , I can't be sure but that's what it feels like
He's basically staying in his holding role far more ? I'm sure a heat map will call my bluff

Lampard seems to prefer him to Eccles and I quite like the sound of a Sheaf, Torp, Rudoni midfield.
Hate to use fm terms but trying to recreate the tactic. Think he’s been told to play as a “ half back” to collect the balls and help the back two by forming almost a three man back three in possessionFeel like his role has changed slightly under frank and maybe that's giving the illusion he's not involved , I can't be sure but that's what it feels like

Exactly that. I like it though, I always found Sheaf and Eccles together pretty dull tbh.I think sheaf is a better holding midfielder and Eccles is falling victim to us playing 2 more progressive midfielders infront of him
