Young Liverpool lad lined up got injured. Think he's only just returned to fitness.
DK who was late on, but we did try and things changed.

I agree & also think we should have pushed harder in the summer, but as I say it would be a bit of a 180° for King. He was very cautious/reluctant with them even as a proposed playoff chasing team to then spend money on them for no return would be odd. Hopefully, as suggested he's listening to Lampard.
I would’ve thought that offering them money that we haven’t already spent on loan players in the previous window would be the main motivating factor.

When Austin spoke at the forum he mentioned reasons as to why loans were problematic but didn't say any had fell through, though that doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Half season loan deals won't be costing us much in the grand scheme of things, and I think we are a much more attractive proposition for potential players with a 9th place finish vs 15th.
I also imagine that Lampard was assured he'd have the opportunity to bring at least a few players in in Jan.
We will be an attractive proposition to any player in the summer so long as we can offer a high enough salary and show we are making suitably serious investments elsewhere in the squad. If spending money on loan signings to have us finishing 9th instead of 15th hinders our ability to do that then we shouldn’t do it.

Absolutely, the number of times MVE just did not feel confident we would retain possession if he fed Tats and instead turned back to the centre backs, usually Thomas. Tats place is up for grabs, something we would not have said last season

Exactly. It was never a hard & fast "no loans". King was reluctant as he sees it as dead money & for the other reasons outlined by Austin at the forum but for the right player at the right price, there was always room for at least 1. Just checked, he's spoken about the role again since then but referred to the position as Sporting director rather than Director of football.
Said he's going to take his time making the appointment.

It wasn‘t an exciting match, but there were some interesting tactical things that you can see when you’re at the game.
1) We were trying to play that Pep-style 3-2-5 in possession, especially in the first half. I swear I even saw some Rico Lewis style runs from Bidwell.
2) Millwall set up in a 4-4-2 mid block designed to disrupt us and they executed it perfectly. They didn’t press our defenders but they blocked all of the passing lanes out of defence, leading to a lot of sterile passing between Dovin, Thomas and Lati.
3) We should have brought Simms on much sooner. He opened up a whole new option for forward passing, suddenly we could get the whole team up the pitch faster and Millwall had to drop back. Sheaf actually had more space on the ball after that. I think changing Simms at HT could have won it for us.
4) Dovin seems more confident. He enjoys having the ball at his feet, and was solid in everything he did.
Yesterday was one of those transitional games you see when a team is trying to play a slightly different way and it isn’t quite working yet.

It was interesting that we have changed how we build from the back already, at the start we seemed to make the 3 at the back in the build up phase the 2 cbs and the lb where as now it looks like the lb advances further and Sheaf drops back at lot to back the 3 in the initial build up before stepping forward once we are moving forward with the ball.
It's interesting and with time and more training could be great.

My 1st visit to the Ricoh/Coventry building society/shit hole in the Midlands ground. Last time was Highfield Road.
We decided to walk the 3 and a half fkin miles from Cov station and by god that 'City' is a shithole. Hardly saw any white folk until we were near to the ground, mosque to the left mosque to the right, with the odd curry house and dodgy Asian supermarket to brighten up our walk.
The city centre was like a scene from Zombie apocalypse.
Their ground is the nicest thing in the whole city.
A good crowd was there though and when they did sing it was quite impressive, but most of the time it was like a morgue in there.
Highlight of the day was at half time when I went for a smoke outside, there was only 10 metres or so between us and them, so the abuse started flying and a few plastic bottles and coins were lobbed over the fences. One Wall fella decided that was enough, jumped over our fence and proceeded to pull their fence down and wade it to some of the mouthy coventry lot. A medal is deserved.
The match was pretty shit, but we clung on and got a boring point.
Just back and realised I'm pretty pissed..
