We need to refortify the CBS it used to be a ground teams found difficult coming to, one where we were always praised for our atmosphere. This season its been a morgue at times, feels like we’re becoming expectant fans who think the players do it on their own. When we got to the playoffs we came back from deficits of 1 goal or 2 goals to win multiple times due to the crowd getting behind the players.
Perhaps its a mix of players underperforming and crowd reflecting it with a dull atmosphere, or the other way around, but everything seems flat this year, the few times at the CBS where we’ve made noise the players seem to respond.
So why cant we do it again, perhaps our songbook isnt what it once was, old songs growing stale, lack of good new ones. But whatever it is we need to back the boys in Sky Blue, because that connection Robins helped build back will fade away if we dont maintain it.
Robins’ greatest achievement will forever be written in the books and known as reconnecting a lost broken club in disarray on the verge of extinction and he took it and brought it back to the city and revitalised the fanbase and reconnected us to the club, he brought a feeling of positivity and change. He’d want us to get behind Frank and do the same for him, which Im sure we will. Lampard has been nothing but good for us so far, blunt, honest, positive and brought some confidence to the players.
As the 12th man we need to enhance our songbook, we only sing Super Frank, WLADITT, (half of) PUSB, ayayayoh CCFC. Lets get some more to our catalogue

Atmosphere was dog awful again yesterday. Very little effort to push the players on for an equaliser.

Turning up in bigger numbers than ever but most there seems as disinterested as the players. As Fernando says, we feel like Stoke, Bristol City of Preston now.

I can’t remember a time when the fans backed the team at a time when it was underperforming or not meeting expectations. The much-vaunted connection between players and fans only ever seems to go one way, and that goes for almost every team.

We do all have a choice though, tbf.

Turn up and be like the people who've started coming the last two seasons, with expectations and maybe some entitlement, or support the club first and players second.

Make as much noise as we've got energy to make and if players do something worth getting their song sung, do that. Otherwise we're no different from newer fans are we?

See, I and I know of others, used to be pretty vocal. Dunno whether it was the band we had with players, the backs against the wall mentality, whatever.

Now the football is that boring, and the players are so dislikable that I genuinely dont think ive gotten out of my seat to belt a tune out in months

The whole experience is just dull up there at the minute, and 90% of that is due to the 11 on the pitch in sky blue

first half was The killer yet again. The team needs to show some mettle.

You can’t get excited when the team play like they did. Take MvEs break last match, at home they’d be screaming him on, then he’d pass it back to Thomas. There’s no momentum to our play to build noise, too many false dawns and frustrations. No one is singing while Lats and Thomas play keep ball, we don’t sustain pressure, we don’t run, everyone is static and slow. There’s no role for the crowd in that kind of football.

Don't disagree with any of that, but it's still a choice, isn't it?

We're in a sh*t spot. We can lie down and quit or give it a shot.

The atmosphere was borne of a strong connection between players and fans which has pretty much disappeared. It feels like we're just reverting to the norm in the Championship like the Stokes of this world.

Look at the vitriol even our better players like MVE and Sheaf get on here.

They haven't been this season though? They have been two of the worst.

Performances are shit
Playing style is boring.
A good songs gone and replaced with shit
Getting away from stadium after the game is shit.
it’s the same getting away when at away games. Cardiff held cars back 30 mins yesterday.

The other thing about Cardiff…Support was very quiet compared to the Pompey game.

Let's be honest it's shit because none of us actually like any of the dross wearing our shirt now
It’s the same ‘dross’ that got us 9th last season and to the semi final.

It’s been shit season but to turn around and call the same bunch of players that did ever so well last season is just an emotive knee-jerk response.

Like many, supporting Cov home and away is one of my most expensive hobbies so days like yesterday aren’t great. We’ve just got to keep the faith and being the right players to support the existing group.

I invite someone to be genuinely pessimistic when Haji and EMC come back from injury. Additionally, yourself and Jimmy87 seem to be optimistic about this January window so it’s not all doom and gloom.

You say that, and yes we looked fantastic between December 23 and March 24. But that's run is looking the exception to the rule now. We've spent more time with this squad being poor, than it has being decent

You really think the football isn’t worse this season?

Fair shout, he's the only one out of this lot who can play in the premier league

Il stick my neck on the line and say Dovin could to in the next 3-5 years
I wouldn't write Ellis Simms off, he has scored a few goals in the Premier League, I also think he is improving, his hold up play has been quite good in recent appearances and it was quite poor early last season.

I like you go home and away and the unrest yesterday was felt big time

fans are getting fed up and the reasons are

Club have spent a lot of money and not getting in return in terms of entertainment

away performances in General have been poor

no connection with Lampard yet

Very little connection with many players now

all the above is a bad chemistry and it’s hard for fans to stay positive

How did you read what I posted and thought that’s what I was saying?

“it’s the same “dross” that got us to 9th”

Though rereading maybe I misinterpreted you talking about the squad as the football.

MVE hasn't, gets unfairly singled out because he happens to be one of our main attacking outlets. Sheaf hasn't either really.

MVE's defending has been very poor. Sheaf's distribution has been woeful and misplaced passes have left us over loaded. We may have got away with most of them but it erodes confidence. Sheaf just isn't a play maker and we need to stop trying to play through him. A very good DM who can occasionally pick a pass, but he is not a play maker. It is clear he has crumbled under the responsibility.

The only thing that’s really changed is our defence and the only thing that’s changed personnel-wise is McFadz. That’s when our defending started to really deteriorate.

Had we signed Joe Worrall, that could’ve been one signing that is game changing. We’ve dismantled the leadership that was successful from 2022/23 and not replaced; Godden, McFadz or Kelly.

That’s what’s missing in this team. Lati and Sheaf are our ‘leaders’ atm.

100% agree with this because we spend a lot of money on this. I’m pretty certain every away game has been £30+ this season so it’s certainly costing everyone a pretty penny.

Fans will never have a connection with Lampard until we go on a run because he’s replacing a messiah-like figure in Robins. Likewise, fans won’t have a connection with the team because of the results and we’re inherently fickle. Just look at how many people turned against Robins, MVE and Sheaf.

It’s a vicious cycle and even before the game people were bemoaning not playing 2 upfront.

This time of year is simultaneously the best and worst time to bring a new manager in. It’s the best time because the games come thick and fast so the manager gets to see the player in game time to separate the wheat from the chaff with a view to the transfer window. It’s also the worst time of year because the contact time with the players on the training ground is shortened which potentially impacts the match day performance.

Lampard joining the club was an ambitious from King because FL wouldn’t have taken the job without promises of being backed in the transfer market.

I was talking about the squad. The players haven’t become shit overnight.

The football has been pretty boring at times and leaves me questioning my life choices of why I’m in ‘x’ arse end of the country watching us get beat.

We've been at far lower points but I can't remember the fans being this quiet.

It's very strange. Even some dodgy days in the mid 2010s we'd take 700 to places on a Saturday but were always very vocal.

Even 2010/11 when we were relegated, the team were dog shit, the owners were killing us and Andy Thorn was in charge we still backed the players even in such small numbers. Leeds away was a good example.

Yeah I agree. There’s more to these players. The football is so bad right now though.

Everytime we get something going we spend 5 minutes with the ball going backwards. I end up swearing to myself more than using my voice for our team. Yes we get something going but the other side seems to have more chances with much less of the ball. It doesn't help.

expectations were sky high this year. even with us old enough who should know better.
so handling these performances in normal circumstances would be bad enough, but it's almost a double-whammy knowing how recently we could turn a game around.

passing left and right across the back 4, and back to the keeper, doesn't get my adrenaline going. frankie boy and the team need to realise that. play some sexy football and the rest will follow.

Honestly. If you don't fancy losing away from home : Best not travel !!?
We're Coventry City not Liverpool.
The stats of course will confirm "most" teams have a losing record on the road.
We are getting a bit precious on here !!
Fuck me I've seen us lose just about everywhere : thought we were going to lose at Worthing once!!

Well, I do it because I enjoy following my team but won’t delude myself into thinking we’ve been playing mesmerising stuff… Some of the away days the highlight has been the travelling itself and spending time with friends.

To state the obvious, it’s far more enjoyable watching your team win.

it’s the expectations nowadays

back then, we didn’t have any. most went for the day out and not the football

last few years been spoilt where football been good

now it’s back to football rubbish and spoiling the day out with the boys
