Fairplay Mucca I hear ya & applaud all those that do it regularly.
My record was 14 away in a season. The likely disappointment keeps my "awaydays" down to the big fixtures these days.

We've been at far lower points but I can't remember the fans being this quiet.

It's very strange. Even some dodgy days in the mid 2010s we'd take 700 to places on a Saturday but were always very vocal.

Even 2010/11 when we were relegated, the team were dog shit, the owners were killing us and Andy Thorn was in charge we still backed the players even in such small numbers. Leeds away was a good example.
I think back in the day we had the battle of the Alamo mentality and the people that went to the games were hardcore fans that connected with the players. A few seasons ago when we played QPR at home there were about 18000 there. Can’t remember if we won or not but when we scored my daughter, who lives on the outskirts of Bedworth, said she could hear the roar and PUSB being sung.
Obviously I’m pleased that we get great crowds now but a lot of the newer fans don’t seem to have the mentality of us older boys. Having said that though the way we’re playing it’s hard to get any enthusiasm going to get behind them.

Yesterday was cold, miserable and train cancellations put a bit of a downer on it a bit but I enjoyed my ‘posh away day’ with the other half.

It’s not all about the result, Pompey away has actually been my favourite away day this season despite leaving early at 4-1.

12th man.....
Our fanbase that go to home games has increased and as a result diluted the harder core supporters.
I'm in Singers Corner, we have 4 blokes who are new to where we are. 2 leave 10mins before the end of the game, don't turn up to some games and don't sing too much either. They moved to singers corner for the atmosphere.
The other 2, moved for the atmosphere but moan about having to stand.
The 4 seats that were left vacant by others wanting to move to behind the goal. I'm still in touch with these 4 blokes. They've all moaned to me about not being able to sit in their seats for he FA cup games.
I know of others, who have the same experience in Singers Corner with others who have moved out for a preferable seat elsewhere and be replaced by a supporter who wants to be within the atmosphere but not be the reason why the atmosphere has been what it is.
Way too many STHs don't attend week in week out....madness in my mind but their choice.
I've not been as passionate in my support for the team at home, feels like others are the same.
I don't see that as the players fault personally....that's on me but we all need to be inspired or given hope that we can come back from a goal or 2 down.
Opening up seats behind the goal for home fans was naturally allowing us to maximise home support but at a cost of atmosphere. Away fans should've been housed there and home fans the other side.

Favourite recent, if not ever, away day was Wolves away last season.
Scenes when we scored 2nd & 3rd. & the drinking before & after & the taxi ride up the M6 beforehand !!
Had it all that day.

I went to the game but couldn’t stay out for the drinking unfortunately! 100% I was sat away from my group and the scenes was still just something you couldn’t explain to someone not there.

Trying to describe it to the Mrs had her looking at me like a crazy person.

I still watch Ally McCoist’s ‘ohh nawww’ commentary every so often.

I know people take the piss but sometimes all it needs is for one of our players to go flying into a tackle to get the fans going. Look at Sheff Utd for example.

If the fans are bored and not seeing much then of course they won't be bouncing around as much as usual.
You are right, we just don't play with any real intensity. One of the only times I think we have this season was Oxford at home and the atmosphere was better.

it’s the expectations nowadays

back then, we didn’t have any. most went for the day out and not the football

last few years been spoilt where football been good

now it’s back to football rubbish and spoiling the day out with the boys

It's a shame people can't still enjoy the day and get behind the players.

They are devoid of confidence and we need to back them.

You can’t get excited when the team play like they did. Take MvEs break last match, at home they’d be screaming him on, then he’d pass it back to Thomas. There’s no momentum to our play to build noise, too many false dawns and frustrations. No one is singing while Lats and Thomas play keep ball, we don’t sustain pressure, we don’t run, everyone is static and slow. There’s no role for the crowd in that kind of football.
Absofuckinglutely… nail in the head, it’s dross

Sideways Sammy was way ahead of the game back on 2010 with his style of play

little did I know back then, we would end up with 11 Sammy Clingham’s in the team in 2025

We need to refortify the CBS it used to be a ground teams found difficult coming to, one where we were always praised for our atmosphere. This season its been a morgue at times, feels like we’re becoming expectant fans who think the players do it on their own. When we got to the playoffs we came back from deficits of 1 goal or 2 goals to win multiple times due to the crowd getting behind the players.
Perhaps its a mix of players underperforming and crowd reflecting it with a dull atmosphere, or the other way around, but everything seems flat this year, the few times at the CBS where we’ve made noise the players seem to respond.
So why cant we do it again, perhaps our songbook isnt what it once was, old songs growing stale, lack of good new ones. But whatever it is we need to back the boys in Sky Blue, because that connection Robins helped build back will fade away if we dont maintain it.
Robins’ greatest achievement will forever be written in the books and known as reconnecting a lost broken club in disarray on the verge of extinction and he took it and brought it back to the city and revitalised the fanbase and reconnected us to the club, he brought a feeling of positivity and change. He’d want us to get behind Frank and do the same for him, which Im sure we will. Lampard has been nothing but good for us so far, blunt, honest, positive and brought some confidence to the players.
As the 12th man we need to enhance our songbook, we only sing Super Frank, WLADITT, (half of) PUSB, ayayayoh CCFC. Lets get some more to our catalogue
You're bang on the money there, even if we sign fucking anything literally even Gyokeres song, Mo Konjic song, Twist and shout, we gotta get that bounce of energy flowing out from the stands on to the pitch.

It does absolutely do gold for players, we have witnessed the CBS firing and the players absolutely respond to it.

I think we a squad we are 3 players short, we need a new centre back, I would have 2 new but in a real world we need a top level center half next to Thomas, we need a fucing box to box centre mid and we need a versatile full back that can play either side. Is minimum 5foot9 and has pace.

Everyone was so keen to proclaim ourselves "best fanbase" in the league when things were going well.

Saying its up to the players, well thats basically admitting we are no better than every other team in the league.

(there's nothing wrong with that, but everyone will be talking the fanbase up again during the next good run/playoff charge)

it’s the same getting away when at away games. Cardiff held cars back 30 mins yesterday.

The other thing about Cardiff…Support was very quiet compared to the Pompey game.
Not quite the same. I parked near the ground at Cardiff and when they let the traffic out it flowed. At the CBS people can't even get out of the car park for nearly an hour and that's before they encounter the road system.

After Wednesday the wife and I agreed no more away games this season. Between us it cost around £150 to watch players doing things that just make no sense from professionals. The MVE counter where we break but because nobody was left forward for the corner and it goes back to Thomas.

Time after time giving the ball away all over the pitch, playing silly buggers in our own box, not shooting at goal etc. Crown it off with the captain constantly putting the ball out of play then berating his teammates for his mistakes. We managed to nearly lose the game too against 10 men but for Dovin.

Just the latest in a long line of piss taking performances this season. It’s expensive anyway and we’d rather save our money if that’s what’s getting served up.

We did get behind the players on Wednesday. They rewarded it with the usual habit of giving away a farcical goal within 5 minutes.

The level of abuse after that though was pretty striking, not heard it since 2017.

Hard to build a connection from a player perceptive though when people are so quick to call them all sorts of horrible shite though.

Think Jimmy said some of the stuff they’ve had flown their way online is disgraceful. If I was a player, I’d find it hard to give it my all for people calling me all sorts (not innocent as it’s an emotional game).

Last home game frustrated like everyone else with the safe passing but never heard a crowd boo a keeper retaining the ball and pressuring him to throw it to no man’s land

Barely. It was so quiet for the majority.

Cardiff fans were just as bad.

I’m not keen on the players doing the whole waving arms thing to the crowd after 10 minutes to get us going. I understand it to a point as it works both ways, but give us something to get excited about, not just winning a throw in.

thats what they get paid for. These players have cost a lot of money. on big wages

they haven’t shown any fight this season

the football has been slow and painful

Lampard is another, he hasn’t built any relationship with the fans

he stormed off at Pompey when fans sing his name he doesn’t acknowledge it

little things like that go a long way

I didn’t hear much abuse round me. The booing at half-time was the most noticeable. Plus the twerp behind that had a potty mouth.

The Pompey game was worse. Fans sharing opposing opinions, others wanting to butt in and ‘have a go’.

But we no longer expect much out of the games this season. The club is blowing its momentum.

As for the football. Tippy-tappy is not attractive in a losing team.

Did you mean to say 2 months ago?

no. first game of 2024

the connection between fans and players was great

boro away this season was good but didn’t compare to that day

away performances this season have generally been shocking and that’s rubbing off on the fans

puts Hard hat on, it’s the first season ticket I’ve had for years we sit in the prawn sandwich section, tbf we have a good old sing ( get some funny looks ) theres no atmosphere in there but we enjoy it, anyway this season I was looking forward to the football we’d played the last 2 seasons, cant Lie, it’s been shockingly bad, I’ve seen enough bad football over the years but we’ve always had a Doyle type of player or a fleck, Emerson, McGrath, one who takes a boring game like they’ve all been, and drags The team into it, makes a tackle or runs 30 yards to close someone down,we haven’t got anyone who can get the crowd going,EMC has started to get the crowd on their feet at times when he gets the ball and that helps but I think the atmospheres just down to the expectation we had, and the reality of we’re not good enough, hopefully we bring some bodies in January a midfielder like I’ve mentioned, lampards said he wants to give us a team that entertains us and we’re proud of, hopefully he gets the players to do it, because if he does the place will be rocking like it was the last 2 seasons, just Think this seasons a bit of a reality check, this leagues hard you need to fight for every point, our playears don’t look interested so you can see why the fans arent either, just my take on it, pretty sure it’ll be different next season, just this seasons been a bit of a let down for everyone, we’re not used to it,

One thing I’ve noticed about FL he hasn’t really referenced us at all on his insta or that he’s managing us, or posted when he got the job or anything.

To me it kinda feels like he’s ashamed

Don’t care about that, do care about results and performances. He’s here because his career hasn’t gone to plan and because this team got a legend sacked.

Not much to crow about

He’s a very much get to work, grafter. He’ll put his all into this especially knowing its last chance saloon, of course he’ll want us to succeed but the first thing he has to do is build a connection to the players and get them playing football, he’s played at the top level and managed at the top level. He knows what it takes, its not all sunshine and rainbows, and it takes time for a new man to come in and build that foundation of trust and confidence with the fanbase
