You can see reading through this thread that those who have sought to undermine and to devalue this competition have done a good job.
It used to be that cup games would see a substantial increase in the gate compared to league games. The fielding of weakened teams coupled with changes to the format such as no replays have badly damaged what was a hugely prestigious cup. The fact that it is rare for a team outside of the rich and wealthy to get the final and win it has also had a detrimental effect.
For what it’s worth, I hope we field the strongest team we can and go as far as we can.
Nothing can take away the glorious memories this team created last year. (When many on here we’re saying the same things).
An odd last sentence given what has happened to last years managerial and coaching team.

Personally I find it hard to think of memories of ultimate failure as glorious.

The 90 seconds after Torps goal were my best as a City fan and that includes ‘67’ and ‘87’.
To come from 3-0 down at Wembley against Man Utd and
to come within a toe nail of beating them, beating Wolves at Molineux with two injury time goals. I’d stand by glorious.

I really don't get wanting your team to get knocked out of the FA Cup. Even these days where it is not such an important competition as it was, it still brings the potential of interest, glamour and extra finance that League games do not bring.

I could sort of see a point if it was 'guaranteed' that if we get knocked out that we an then go an a long unbeaten league run, or that if progress in the cup it is 'guaranteed' that we get relegated, but it is just not proven that performance in one competition causes an opposite effect in another.

As far as I'm concerned I hope we play our strongest team, do our best to win and try to progress as far as we can.

So a cup game would be a good way to see where he's at. Whether he only gets 60mins or a 30min sub appearance, I think he has to feature in this game so FL can get a look at him.
20-30 min sub appearance would be fine

I don’t want him to start, be way out of his depth and us be at a big disadvantage for the majority of the game. I’m very sceptical of Raphael tbh, not sure he’s going to give us much at least for a while.

Well, the telegraph interview with Warnock says he thinks Lampard will be ok if he avoids relegation this season. Uh Oh.
If we don't go for a cup run, we will have nothing this season it appears.

Looks like about 6-7000 at Bramhall lane this evening both sides not playing first choice players ,how to ruin a once great competition

Yep. Our crowd won't be as bad as people are making out.

Same here. My first game was 72. I saw two of my best ever games in 2024, Wolves and Utd.

Tinpot clubs.

Wednesday are miles bigger than Utd, always thought that.

I have always looked at it (having lived there) Sheffield Wednesday equals Aston Villa - massive when they are doing well but melt away when they are not.

Sheffield United the Birmingham City, never pull the numbers of the above but have a more resilient hardcore base.

That’s fair

With all the fucking around with the pitch in recent years does anyone know if we have undersoil heating?

Forecast is currently -2 by kick off 🥶

So glad the game got moved and we're not playing in the afternoon when its above freezing

Urghhh, extra layers required, still it can't be as bad as standing on the Kop in the 1970's when my feet regularly lost all feeling and stamping them did little to help.

Oh wow, we do proper digital tickets now?

I just got mine through, I have the standard printable version but with a QR code, not a barcode. I also was able to add them to my Google wallet! What a time to be alive...

How long has this been a thing?

If only Greggs was still here to advise!

I’m going albeit not massively excited especially as it’s going to be freezing

I want us to win for the obvious reason I’m a fan, but a cup run would at least give us something to get excited about this season.

Wolves and Wembley were days that I’ll always remember.

A lacklustre performance tomorrow would also add to the growing stories of an unhappy camp.
