Looking forward to seeing the Dasilva, Collins and Binks partnership again
We are definitely going to see DaSilva at left wing back on Saturday.

PS I will not be eating any hats if I'm wrong. 😊

Just play the first team. You can’t tell me they’re tired after their “efforts” this season. Maybe MvE but that’s about it. Only him Thomas and Rudoni have played more than 2k minutes this season.
Especially with Doug telling us how much fitter the deck is this season

god i really just do not give a shit about the cup in a season where the league is so critical
TBH I really don’t want any cup progress this year, but then I equally didn’t last season either. Knocked out by a blatantly offside goal involving a deliberate handball by the scorer would do me, so we can retain an iota of pride and feel hard done by at the same time.

sorry ☹️

I wouldn't be surprised but there is no reason to "rest" our CB & GK partnership. Maybe MVE (played a lot) & Bidwell (playing time needs to be managed).

After this weekend, now the Christmas silly period is over. Play the same back 4 (Kitching & Thomas) for the next 10 games.

Would be starting Dovin, Simms, Kitching, Allen and Thomas-Asante at least. The rest of the team would depend on fitness levels.

Always love a cup run, but the league does need to take priority this season

Why are people talking about prioritising the league this season?

This would be the perfect year for a cup run.

I think there is an intrinsic fear of a relegation battle. IF that proved to be the case, would you really want a cup final appearance to be dominant in the players minds?

We could be well clear of relegation by the 4th round, if we were to win on Saturday.

A lot of it depends on what position we are in by the end of Jan.

Because why I think we should be OK I don't think we're that clear of the relegation zone that we can stop looking over our shoulders.
Couple that with a growing injury list and I think the league should be the focus.
We really aren’t getting relegated, and there was no midweek fixture last week or this week.

We should be playing our strongest 11. A win would benefit us far more for confidence than resting anyone.

And if we pick up another key injury in this tie it will badly impact our league games.

To be honest I hope the forwards that are out will be back pretty soon

Newcastle played away at Spurs on Saturday and Arsenal on Tuesday, and made one change. Won both games.

You can see reading through this thread that those who have sought to undermine and to devalue this competition have done a good job.
It used to be that cup games would see a substantial increase in the gate compared to league games. The fielding of weakened teams coupled with changes to the format such as no replays have badly damaged what was a hugely prestigious cup. The fact that it is rare for a team outside of the rich and wealthy to get the final and win it has also had a detrimental effect.
For what it’s worth, I hope we field the strongest team we can and go as far as we can.
Nothing can take away the glorious memories this team created last year. (When many on here we’re saying the same things).
