Well that's it though. We don't know he be a success on the right. If he is then brilliant. But if he isn't, then we shouldn't be shoe horning players into positions.

It's going to be interesting to watch. I suspect Wright will go central with license to rotate with EMC.
For his first few games back Haji will only be starting as a sub for the last 15 to 30 mins. So there is scope for FL to experiment.

shocking that when you go from 1 goal contribution in 16 games to 7 in 6 opinions change

oh wait, no it isn't.
He was doing plenty of good things if people would only pay attention, and was extremely unlucky not to have a few goals and assists to his name. But people preferred to ignore all of that and slag him off, with stupid comments saying he was non-league standard etc., making absolutely no allowances. It happens time and time again.

Players also just need a run in the team, how many games did he actually play RW for us?

As soon as Lampard put a bit of faith in him to start games, it paid dividends. The main things we see from him; coming to the back post, high volume crosses and lots of dribbling attempts, I can’t see why he wouldn’t be able to play RW.

This applies to both Haji and EMC, the way they dribble, their body mostly opens up as if they want to cut in so it could be argued that won’t translate as well for either of them at RW.

Didn’t realise Lampard injured Haji Wright. I’d be careful he’s American he’ll probably sue if he finds out.

Robins started Bassette upfront and BTA on the wing before thinking to start EMC LW or RW.

Maybe put your dedicated winger LW, RW and/or move Haji to striker.

Robins dropped the ball on that and there’s little point pretending otherwise.

I reckon he could be effective on the right too. His uncertain early performances were as much to do with adjusting to the league and the team as playing out of position IMO. People were so unfair to him, concentrating on a few little mistakes and seemingly blind to what he can do. It's traditional on here.

I think Wright is equally capable of playing on the right too, or perhaps you play both of them and swap them over in game

It's not how things work on here. You need to have an opinion instantly and then not change it and double down as much as possible, even if you don't actually believe it. You should also be prepared to be mocked relentlessly and have it used against you for years ahead.

Well that would be fair if any of it was actually true...

Bassette only started 2 league games under Robins.
1st one he was subbed off & EMC came on & played LW.
2nd one we played a back 3 without wingers so not sure how EMC could play LW then.

BTA has never started a game on the left wing.

Ironically enough, Lampard's first game he brought BTA off the bench to play LW & moved EMC to RW to accommodate him...

No, but BTA played a couple of games a RW even as a sub iirc in the league and cup.

Wright was and is our top scorer. The LW position was/is his. EMC looked like a pub player in his cameos on the right.

This is Wright and Simms all over again.

He started poorly. You’re allowed to acknowledge that. The idea he was producing anything like he did in those two games for Lampard under Robins and Robins just didn’t pick him is a nonsense.

What if say Wright returns first and him and Simms start clicking again? EMC would have to wait wouldn't he?

433, EMC, Wright, Simms.

Has to be goals in that forward line.

Simms can only play centrally. So if you play those 3, it means playing one of EMC or Wright on the right. Not their strongest position, as far as we've seen so far.

Professional footballers should be able to adapt, from what I've seen of Simms he's mainly right footed.

The goal he scored at Wembley in the semi-final and when he hit the bar were both with his right foot, was it not.

I didn't claim those things did I?

He didn't immediately deliver end results, but his ability was there to see for anyone who bothered to look properly. I was baffled by the negative comments and said so more than once at the time. He'd play some good interchanges with other players, he showed that he could go past people, he was unlucky not to score several times after getting into some great positions, but kept getting called a non-league player on here. Then people have to backtrack by saying he's undergone some kind of metamorphosis. It's the same guy.

He was poor. His decision making was bad, he wasn’t beating his man, and he was missing sitters.

Your preferred foot doesn't dictate where you play. How good you are in that position, does. You can't simply shoe-horn your best players into your team.

England tried that in Lampard's era and it ruined the best squad we've ever had.

Simms RW is never happening

I didn't say he was going to play on the wing.

Play them as a front two like Ferguson and Wallace with EMC on the left providing the crosses, with MVE or Sakamoto on the right of midfield.

We aren’t going to play 442 no matter how much people ask for it. You’d get totally overrun in midfield even more than we do now.

433.

EMC, Wright, Simms.

Rodoni, Eccles, MVE.

He scored all his goals playing upfront this season with the exception of Oxford at home. His main position in his career has been striker and it’s only been Robins who’s tried to convert him to a LW.
