The notion we haven't got experience is a myth.
Only one player in our starting squad was over the age of 26.

I just think we need some older heads to help mentor the lads behind the scenes, Sunderland did and there are flying. Especially when you consider we lost Kelly,Godden and Faz (don’t disagree they shouldn’t have gone but we need to replace them).

20,906 in attendance (roughly just over 16k home fans)

The three other all Championship fixtures by comparison were:

Middlesboro v Blackburn 16,794
Sunderland v Stoke 15,744
Sheff Utd v Cardiff 6,126

Robins was even trolling Sunderland for their attendance

Experience comes with appearances not age.

That's wonderful. I bet Stoke had no more than a few hundred there too.

I left 3 mins from end of ET - Can't say I feel as though I've missed much.
Benefits were regaining circulation in my toes and getting home earlier for a late tea.
There's gonna be yet more symmetry in this cup run - Away to Wolves next round.

It was a good 90 min performance for me.

It was decent until Bannan came on. He started running the game, we didn't react to it, got the subs wrong when we did and the players chucked it in the last minute, just like last week so I'm not sure how anyone can say it wass good 90 minutes.

ET was also awful and we carried no attacking threat whatsoever but we changed shape and even though Bannan was still seeing as much of the ball he was doing so in areas that were posing us far less danger.

Showed some bollocks in the shoot out and are through though and Wright and EMC out I think we should start with 5 3 2 again Saturday.

Glad we managed to get over the line there. It would have been unjust imo to have lost that.

Thought Dovin, Kitching, Simms and Allen were very good today.
Binks looks so much better in the middle of that back 3.

JDS not targeted as much with Kitching behind him.
2 clean sheets at the start of the season with Kitching and Thomas, I'll say it again, I can't see why we put at a stop to that, this is why people have been calling for him to get a run.
Same goes for Simms, really good today, led the line well, took on his man, wasn't bullied, two good efforts on target. The goals will follow if some faith is shown in him by Lampard.

The referee was apalling, apologies if it's been said, haven't caught up, but was there anything wrong with our disallowed goal? Looked from my angle like the keeper ran into his own defender.

Negative for me is our game management. I cannot fathom why Simms was taken off. We lost our outlet and instantly started to sit deeper, also a presence at defensive corners.
He may not press like a headless chicken, but he is intelligent in the press and they can't play out so easily.
Though the midfield was good, I thought we could have countered their changes towards the end by packing the midfield as they were looking leggy. It would have slowed the game down, had we not learned from Norwich?

Absolutely it suits you this squad, I was surprised Tat's didn't take a penalty either, no drama though, Bidwells was a surprise.

They never really looked like scoring did they? If binks on I think we see out the game

We should play 352 again and hopefully see some more of that high tempo progressive passing we did today

Also should be noted JDS has a good game. Ain't seen that mentioned on thread

Spot on, and the the Simms sub was baffling.

Never looked like scoring?
Dovin made 3 really good saves after Bannan came on.
When we finally reacted to his introduction we made changes that reduced our attacking threat to zero.
Taking Simms off was baffling.

Jimmy87 mentioned JDS having a good game, which he did.

But it's acup game and we're through, and ultimately that's all that counts.
