Never looked like scoring?
Dovin made 3 really good saves after Bannan came on.
When we finally reacted to his introduction we made changes that reduced our attacking threat to zero.
Taking Simms off was baffling.

Jimmy87 mentioned JDS having a good game, which he did.

But it's acup game and we're through, and ultimately that's all that counts.
I remember the tip over altho think was going over anyway still good save

Think he took Simms off to have 2 rapid strikers to hit them on counter on closing moments. Not very decision can come off wouldn't call it baffling myself.

And let snot forget we were robbed of a 2 goal lead. Which was more fitting scoreline based on the performance imo

Yeah we should have been 2 up but we weren't so we needed to see the game out and didn't.
Losing late goals has happened far too often this season and now 2 weeks on the spin.

We've got to get it sorted.

And you're probably the only person who would say the Simms decision wasn't baffling.
We were reduced the punting balls up the channels once he went off and not one of them got close to causing them any problems.

Like I said with 11 men , with all our Cbs I don't think we concede

We have been seconds away from 2 more clean sheets for lampard. Think signs are he is getting it sorted

I didn't say the sub worked just speculating as to why he brought basette on for him in particular.

We looked pretty blunt for the most part with a back 5. We can’t play it when EMC and Wright are back

Said this in another post. Think it suits this squad and I don't think it looked blunt this evening with Simms in the mood.

But it doesnt suit those 2, and they're our most effective attackers.

Bit of a conundrum for Lampard to solve, but that's what he gets the big bucks for.

Kitch was good, Dovin very good. Allen made the midfield look better and back more to how we used to play. JDS good. The refs decisions seemed to get worse as the game went on. Binks better than at LCB. Simms good. Disappointed with Bassette apart from the pen. Assante put a real shift in and was not as bad as some make out. Lacking confidence. MVE a bit hit and miss. Torp ok. Bidders ok. Thomas good and less stray passes than normal. Tatsu not in the game. Raphael never really saw the ball. Rudi usual mix of good then frustrating. Eccles ok but not as good as we know he can play.
We have got to see games out better. We were slipping deeper again near the end of ordinary time.
Bannon changed the dynamic. Good job he is really old, possibly 34?
