I like the move for Rak-Sakyi MUCH more if it's a buy. Zero experience of grown man football means it will take him time to get up to speed but he has a lot of potential.

Agree but to be fair to the lad he has been involved in 4 UConfLeague games. Played nearly full game against Astana and was very highly praised for his performance.

If we can buy him, that ticks all the boxes.

With all these rumours flying about why do i now get the feeling the window will play out like this...

I was looking at appearances rather than minutes but I guess this way is fairer.

It’s got its issues but yeah generally I use minutes per goal. Obviously with players like Bassette and Tavares at this level when there’s not many minutes it’s skewed. Tavares scored in his first five minutes on the pitch or something IIRC.

Point is we ruin strikers.

Listened to BTA last night at the Coundon Supporters evening, and you cant help but root for the guy... but then he goes through on goal and all of that is forgotten.

One thing I will say, is that he's not had a run of games in his best position, so it's hard to build up any rhythm. Watching the highlights from the WBA game last season, he looked a completely different animal to what we've seen, I fear the signing of Norman made him redundant however.

If we can move him on, and get in an actual right winger to rotate with Tats, then I'd do so, rather than trying to shoehorn him in on either flank.
Spot on, that's the crux of the matter, it is him or Bertie to play that closing down striker, neither are good finishers but we know which player has more potential.

Are we in for a bit of a shuffle soon, hope so all this waiting in expectation with no movement in or out is aggrevating to say the least.

Says £2.25m rising to £3m

Interesting in this article they felt that had he of had longer on his contract he would have been worth even more (says £8m on here)

Are we as a club just not very good at handling forwards? Gyokeres aside we’ve had BTA, Chaplin, Tyler Walker, Simms, Clarke-Harris who all came in highly regarded who haven’t done so well at our club. Simms did last season but took him a while to get going and then he’s dropped right off again.

Are we doing something wrong?

His career record is pretty mediocre

Sorry but when I’ve seen him he’s been mostly ineffectual. He’s scored a slight flick off his shin that was pretty much going in and an offside tap in. He’s missed multiple sitters. And he’s never had Wan Bissaka on toast. He was OK in the spurs game and that’s about it.

Agreed. Though like Lati a slight worry we are shipping out good characters from a squad light on them.
Yep Lati and BTA seems two of the bigger characters. Lati is vocal on the pitch.nwill need to be factored into the replacements which seems a tough ask in January

Hypothetically if Saddle is correct and it’s Lati, Bta out with Rak Sakyi in. Who plays cb when Thomas is injured? If we wanted to play a back 5 as we have been we’d have no back up cb

Key thing for me on Lati departure is that he was a natural leader; articulate and honest in the media; and was happy to stand up and be counted. In a footballing sense, replaceable and perhaps just redundant - but we will miss those qualities imo.

We must have other irons in fire surely, sounds like being kept well under wraps if so.

Just makes sense to shuffle BTA and Lati - ONLY if we reinvest though, cant have another Palmer situation. As you say, we need to be careful here with just shipping everyone out.
I got ridiculed the other week for saying the club was good at suppressing leaks yet here we are 2 weeks into the window with so many rumours yet no concrete action. I wouldn't be surprised if we signed someone that's never even been mentioned. 🤭

Agreed but we play with one striker and ideally a 10 but we don’t have a 10 so BTA runs around a lot.

You could sell BTA, retain wright, simms and Bassette for that single striker role and use some of the money to loan in a 10.
You'll want a player that can play anywhere across the front 3, maybe that is where the Bamford rumour someone posted earlier today comes from.

You could look at it as saving the remainder of his contract too albeit he'd need to replaced by another body, if not in the same position

I'd imagine the idea will be to bring in a replacement that can play both RW and centrally to support Sakamoto and act as another option down the middle in the event of an injury crisis or simply to have that extra option off the bench.

Seems the logic anyway with the Sorba Thomas link.

BTA - clearly a good bloke, clearly lots of energy.

I’ve seen very little to convince me that he’s a Championship quality striker though. We should take the money and run for the hills. His finishing technique is awful, and the runs he makes seem to get in the way of better placed teammates - absolute fundamentals.

If Lati is sold are we not looking at bringing another CB in or will we just have to make do with 3 until the end of the season?

It’s so wide of the mark.

As if they’re going to sell one of the centre backs, without replacing him. It’d mean 3 cbs when we often play 3 at the back. And zero cover at RB

Yeah I also find that extremely difficult to believe.

But depends what formation we play. Would still think it's a huge risk to not have four though, especially when the only RB support we have is a player that can't get into a poor SPL side.

For those suggesting Doug wont take a loss, the longer we leave it the more he ,might lose. We also will recoup that extra on Lati. Not every transfer will work at any club, however much homework you do. These seem ideal fringe players, arguably good, but not definite starters that can generate some funds for the new team to do a little dealing. I dont see any downside for the players or the club really and instead of looking who is to blame (owener, management, player, fans) think of it as positive about who we can get in and what they might do for us.

We’re only playing 3atb due to injuries. If Thomas came in we’d probably never use it.

Burroughs can cover MVE (lol)

Wonder who the CB is then if Lats is leaving?

No chance we go the rest of the season with 3 CBs. More than happy if it's Bindon coming in as an understudy but no more noise on a CB is worrying.

Stoke fans seem to really want BTA even though he’s not linked
