Exactly. Theres 9.3 million people between the ages of 16 and 64 who are classed as economically inactive, compared to 1.6 million who are unemployed

Im not sure of the amount that are on benefits out of that total figure, however, even if you get 10% of the 7.7m not classed as unemployed back into work that’s another 770k employed

Truss was an unprecedented disaster. Starmer has just been average. I think probably end of his term is a fair point to judge. He’s not going anywhere beforehand and isn’t promising any quick fixes, in fact quite the opposite. So he’s got a mandate even if it upsets people on here.

If you’re being serious about this, a one off windfall isn’t the same as cutting something we pay every year in perpetuity firstly. Secondly you can’t sell off 5bn in one go or you’ll tank the price.

To be fair, at this moment he's likely to be right. Despite the majority it was in reality an extremely fragile one that could easily be swung the other way. It relied very heavily on Tories out more than Labour in, and Reform also helped them in some areas by taking Tory votes.

Why do you think Starmer would win a GE right now? The policies he's putting through are not appealing to left wing voters, and those that are right wing would just say if we're going down that route the Tories would do it better. Neither does he have a personality to pull people along with him.

It’s not though. If my aunt has balls she’d be my uncle. That’s the point. Looking at polling four years from an election is beyond pointless. Agree with it or not Starmers strategy was to front load bad news knowing people won’t be thinking about WFA or farm tax in four years because that’s how politics works. Constantly going on about how there’s been a load of bad news isn’t exactly groundbreaking. Whether the next bit works or not is a fair question but it’s still a question.

And if there was an election right now Labour would still be in government. That’s what the polling says.
