Grimes at 6
Torp and Rudoni interchanging 8’s

EMC and Wright on the wings
Simms at CF

That’s an incredibly technical, ball playing midfield three and a very fast, agile, direct and full of movement front three.

So much potential to play into space (over the top, through CB/Full back open channels) and counter teams.

And with options on the bench (Sakamoto, Bassette, BTA (if he stays), Allen) to make direct changes or even change shape.

And that’s not even considering Sheaf, who despite his poor form, is one of the best midfielders in this division - when playing the right role.
Grimes and sheaf can definitely play together, they play different roles

If BTA does go I think we will need to bring a loan striker in at least. It’s not guaranteed Haji comes back from injury and will fine for the rest of the season. That leaves us with just Simms and Norm.

The ‘significant’ wage increase part is interesting though from an article earlier, he can’t be on low money at Swansea so I wonder if it’s over 25k a week here.

Some of them reckon he’s already on 25k there

Allen was an integral part of our playoff team so earned the kudos he was getting at the time. Since then he has had the heart scare and two bad injuries. He finally returns to the form that was earning him great reviews and he is not good enough?
He has his faults but has been a major factor in our upturn in form. You don't make peripheral players your captain on the pitch.
Integral is stretching it a bit. In a full strength team, he probably doesn’t even start for that team.

I’m not insulting him, every team needs good role players who are happy to accept their role is to be limited.

He’s found a niche role in the team atm and he’s played it well so deserves a new contract when it was likely he would be released at the end of the season.

Some last third of the season coming up if Grimes lands…. The deck has just got a bit more sparkle if King delivers.

Dont see how we get EMC, Wright, and Simms in the same starting line up to be honest

I think it has to be the aim and we work backwards from it, if it doesn’t work.

I would keep EMC left as that’s where we started to see the player we all expected.

Simms central, as that’s the only position he can really play, plus he’s proven he can score in this league playing that role.

And move Wright to the right. He’s comfortable with both feet, but stronger on his right. So it doesn’t significantly impact his play ie he can still go both ways (down the line or cut in).

Might not work, but that’s our strongest three. Sakamoto isn’t far behind but if we want to play with pace and direct running, EMC and Wright are the better wing choices.

We are overly obsessed with a 433. We played that formation most of the season and were conceding two goals a game. 5 at the back with progressive CBs is the way and two up top. We retain the ball in advance positions and it's making us harder to beat.

Would like us to try the 3-4-3 at some point. With how good Torp is playing could play Grimes and Torp in the middle and look to play Rudoni on the right wing?

Swansea fans seem happy to see him go. Lots of sideways and backwards passing from him that has been holding them back?! Bitterness or truth?
