They’ve been criticising him for years, not just because he is leaving. Their concerns with him are all things I have noticed when watching him play too. The stats even back them up.
Assuming it all goes through I will reserve judgement until I've seen him in a Lampard team over a number of games

Very strange in that case how he seems to be able to hit long accurate passes too but maybe those of us that saw the clips on here just imagined it.

Still slightly nervous about this one. It's a lot of money for a player with no sell on and whom would be a top earner.
Lots and lots of comments regarding his style of play, sideways and backwards and nullifying any sort of attacks with his slow play.
I understand Swansea fans might be salty and reactive, and yes I remember they didn't rate Vik, but they've watched Grimes for 10 years and I'd say that's a good time to form an opinion. They seem happy with the move, saying it gives them a chance to change their style. They all say his passing stats are inflated as all of the passes are simple, sideways and backwards.
This view isn't from one or two of them, it's the majority.
When Hamer left we were all upset, but we never claimed he was as shit as they're making Grimes to be.
Hopefully he turns out to be class and makes the Swansea fans cry, but I will watch with trepidation.

I'm well aware, I appreciate the multiple screenshots too. We all know data is a good indication, but it doesn't tell the full story. I imagine there is a slight truth behind their comments though, but we'll see. Let's hope Frank has him playing a fast tempo.

I always think the opposite to be fair, people often see what they want to see. If they have an opinion that he only plays it sideways they’ll discredit the forward passes and focus only on the safe ones.

Stats can’t have opinions, it’s just the facts.

I can confirm this. In the last few windows before we were linked with him and people suggested him in other chats I said swans fans weren’t big fans of his, it’s not now that he is leaving they have turned. I’d say it was probably a large proportion that weren’t happy with him. I’ve changed over the last day or so I’m quite excited now and hoping it works out and we play a way that suits him, I do however worry some of fans will turn on him for perceived lack of effort or looking like he can’t be arsed quite quickly like they have on other players in the past.

I saw them at the beginning. Mcgraw just disagrees with everything I post or adds a pathetic emoji so his response was absolutely expected. Makes me laugh at what a childish individual he is and always has done

Its been well known that Swansea have a certain identity and that is possession based to the extreme. A lot of how he plays would be based around how he is asked to play.

Theres also so many Swansea fans who are saying if we sell him we’re getting relegated

just sounds like bitter fans to me

I must have missed where I suggested he couldn’t do that? Perhaps you imagined it.

My concerns with him are his lack of mobility, his defensive attributes, his age and the speed at which he can progress the ball.

He is undoubtedly very gifted on the ball, which if you’d read any of my posts on him, you would know.

I'm sure we have done our homework. His stats don't lie he may be just what we need to plug into our system. its not like Swansea have Haji or any of our forward line to benefit from Grimes progressive play. They are probably a bit complacent and fancy a change. we'll see but as you mentioned they have form in bad judgment of players.

If the BTA rumours are true then its not a massive outlay, bar the wages. Grimes has been a top performer in this league for a long while now so won't be cheap. I'm guessing our recent form has tempted Doug to go for a more seasoned player than we may have before as the lost ground earlier in the season means we need someone totally ready to hit the ground running.
