How can the squad get toxic but not around Robins personally?

If the were frustrations around playing time and positions, then how is that not a reflection on Robins himself? Even if the players didn’t like the coaches, that again is a reflection on Robins.

Robins was a great manager for the club and we owe him a debt as a fanbase. It probably was for the best that we sacked him when we did because Lampard is doing a good job atm.

I do have a feeling that your source is perhaps a bit overprotective of Robins. The info is probably bang on the money, just little tidbits of info that don’t quite make sense.

It feels a bit like there has been a bit of a vacuum created by Robins' coaching team being dismantled. As much as Boateng was an experienced player neither he nor Carr really had any experience at this level and perhaps that was exposed.

Pretty sure that @Saddlebrains reported that Robins was taking training sessions that he never had to do when Viveash and Lawrence were at the club.

So the coaching setup was below par and that was something that both Robins and King more or less admitted publicly.

It’s academic at this point, I do wonder what the true story behind Robins recruitment of coaches is. Did he want all these hotshot coaches and was denied for cheap options or was Robins threatened by the better managers on the market?

I’m not defensive, it was ridiculous just how many conspiracies there were around Robins being undermined. It got to the point where everyone was to blame for our form other than Robins. Reality is, the manager is the single most influential person for recruitment; coaching and match day performance and our performances issues began to unravel even when AV was at the club. Albeit, I’m satisfied that there were mitigating factors for the end of the 23/24 season.

People in glasshouses… You’ve gone awfully quiet criticising Dr Roberts since we’ve won a few games… Funny how she (and Dean Austin) isn’t responsible for any success but a convenient scapegoat when we lose.

Deliberately undermining your manager doesn’t make sense in any case. The costs involved getting rid of Robins and his staff outweigh the costs of just hiring top coaches for MR.

I completely get that the owner may have lost faith weeks before he swung the axe and King even admitted he had reservations about Robins post-Viveash. Reservations make sense, deliberately sabotaging your manager doesn’t.

I find it more plausible that Robins was threatened by a high flyer coach at the time, personally.

Where we were when Viveash came in, we were in L2 so there was plenty of time to grow in the role. It’s been said that he was apparently quite an alienating figure with the squad in 23/24 with his methods and MR probably sensed that and that played a part in the ‘divorce’. That’s all conjecture but my instinct is that Robins perhaps misjudged the rebuild of his back room staff.

This guy got some credit for the way he changed the club. He also got a lot of criticism in his lifetime for being seen as a supporter of apartheid.
