Was Doug correct about the deck? (12 Viewers)

My concern is how we deal with our next loss or two. This run is great but it could get easilg disrailed with a couple of losses. Its how we respond which counts
We will worry about that next season, I can’t see it happening before then.

Well considering you started a 'Relegation Battle' thread merely 3 weeks ago, I would assume you think its way too soon?!
I don’t really understand that? Happily admitted I was wrong already, but either way why would that mean I would think it’s ’too soon’ to go up. I’d always rather go up then not.

Even when clubs spend we have idiots saying that's the wrong way to go about survival

They took the piss out of forests owner spending loads but sucked Luton towns sensible approach dick and look at them both now ffs
Like most things it’s a balance, but I’d always choose the financial sustainability route. Perhaps scarred by the administration days.

I don’t think such a route exists in modern football TBH. People freak out about spending and going bankrupt but it’s rare it actually kills a team off at this level. Mostly they get bought up and come back stronger.

That might be true with the exception of Bury, which I still think is a terrible thing to lose in a community. That said, it was really no fun having constant conversations about our financial situation rather than talking about the football. It really was miserable and I wouldn’t want us to flippantly risk getting into that position again.

Bury were L2 when they went pop IIRC. You can be sustainable in L2 TBF. But at this level you may as well spend IMO. If you go bust at worst you’re likely to spend a season in L1.

I wouldn’t take for granted that we’d survive let alone only spend a season in league 1. No club has a divine right to exist. Remember in league 2 we were only getting attendances of about 6,000.

Think he was bang on Pete. And FL is clearly getting a tune out of players that for some reason MR couldn’t.

It’s a results business and we’re getting them. Long may it continue

Doug knows what he’s doing, the recruitment team knew what they were doing, Lampard and the coaches def know what they’re doing, the only people who didn’t have a clue were mostly having a meltdown on here, The “ relegation “ thread is a thing of beauty 😂
It is every year... You'd think people would learn but ohhhh no. They just get angry when you quote them with "hindsight" I just hope Frank can have a better start next year so we don't go through the same old dance.

Yeah, those starts are killing us every season, hopefully we start next season with no problems as usual, the only players that leave will be the ones we don’t want,

We started well in 21/22 and finished 12th. Teams are streaky in this division and only the parachute clubs tend to win consistently throughout the season.

I think plenty owe Doug an applogy. He is doing a decent job, even if it seems not so initially, it often turns out he is after initially being slated

3 points of the play offs, it would be mad to think we haven't got a chance.
It's been mad to think we haven't got a chance all season tbh. In my eyes the squad has never looked far away from being able to challenge (under either manager) and the wailing and gnashing of teeth after every defeat has been absurd. Circumstances never seem to be taken into account, so after a marginal defeat we are dogshit and there always has to be a scapegoat.

There have been some shocking performances this season, though.
