He really is the pissed up old bloke in the pub who sits in the corner mumbling that nobody ever listens to. Fuck knows why they brought him back, he's terrible.

Last night he said something like "I don't know why we are sat here in the press box after that loss". Surely he is getting paid and it's his job?
His after match comments were very odd. I'm not sure if he's still unwell as he sure didn't sound like he was ok

It was something like “you can tell how much we love the club Oggy - still here in an empty ground” - I think Oggy just said nothing

Eakin post match labouring the point to Grimes about leaving Swansea and moving his family to a new city was a bit cringy.

Think Gurney needs to pack it in before he gives himself a heart attack. Far too emotional about it, and can be more flippant live on air than any of us on here - which takes some doing.

When you hear other commentaries while watching iFollow or whatever, it’s often said that they’re biased, talk shit, etc.. He is that guy for us. Talks over other presenters a lot too, and on the Fancast.

That was it, does he not realise it's his job and that's why he's there? :ROFLMAO:

People getting rob and Clive mixed up?

I am sure at the end of the Norwich game he said something about home fans around him giving him stick but he was reassuring the listeners he was giving it back

I think Rob is a good presenter, but it does seem at times he's a fan first and commentary is second.
When we win, it's endearing but can be painful when we're losing.

One text in last night was seeing the positives of the game and he pretty much dismissed it that they'd seen the same match and come to a completely different conclusion.

The fake Alan Partridge laugh grates on me as well. Feels on brand with most of the other CWR presenters, whereas Clive and Oggy never do it
In fairness , there weren't many positives

Rob might not be everybody's cup of tea but lets try not to be too horrible about a fellow supporter. He's a good guy who seemingly has had some health issues, perhaps not a nice idea to have a go at appearances and accusations of being unprofessional whilst working.

So we have a first home defeat under lampard, queues to get even out the place and then subjected to listening to Rob gurney droning on. At one point I couldn’t even understand what he was saying.

“Have a go, lose properly” - rinse repeat and talking Verrrry Sloooowllly I’m sure he was drinking.

It was like a radio version of water boarding
Ooh, I would pay to listen to that. 😍

Don't agree with the appearance bit (Although that market fleece is terrible)

The unprofessional bit, it's an awful listen so yeah I think that's fair to say.

He is now Sports Editor for CWR and presumably Clive’s boss. Should be a bit more professional. He went through a period of being quite belittling and patronising to Clive ( although he has reigned this in now)
The Monday evening fancast show on CWR is a pretty good listen now, informed and with good guests but Gurney should be kept on a short leash for actual matches

Don't mind either of them. They do a good job. Oggy too.

They are local radio reporters. They are never going to be world class pundits.

Rob loves the club and has been through difficult mental health problems. I hope he doesn't take all this stick to heart.

He needn’t take it to heart. I doubt he’d give a shit. Don’t think the radio is a place for flippancy though! Come on here to do that.

Agree. Listening to some of the other local BBC stations when I used to use ifollow, and we really do have one of the best commentary teams in the league.
Some teams sounded like the commentary was just tuned into some guys in a pub

We do have the best - Eakin and Oggy - we did not need anyone else

And even that isn't a bad thing.

I don't want it to be too formal really.

They are very good. Clive particularly has provided some excellent moments in recent years
