Gurney needs to go and work for another local BBC station. He's talented but I think him coming back to cover City was a mistake-he's far too emotionally connected to the club and I can see it ending badly here for him-which will be a real shame. It works for Clive because although he has obvious affection for City he can retain some objectivity as his true football love is Tranmere Rovers. I'm surprised that the BBC allow presenters to cover their boyhood clubs, I'm not sure it happens much tbh.

Clive is quite a talented journalist in general if you've ever heard him do a slot on CWR. Music, current affairs and other sports.

I would like to see some of the fans off the podcast get a bit more involved in the build up to match day. Out of interest what happened to Geoff Foster ?

For years we had people moaning that they wanted Gurney back because Clive wasn't a Cov supporter. Now he's back we've got people moaning he is too passionate and biased because he's a Cov supporter 😂

Hardly anyone wanted Gurney back - most are very positive about Eakin and have for some time

Gurney was suspended last season for a sweary rant on a hot mic and was broadcast. If this was a symptom of his issues then it’s terrible for the guy. However he is in danger of doing it again at this rate and he needs to tone it down - his bosses need to be talking to him about it.

If the BBC on the match of the Day can have Ex Leicester players, Newcastle players, Arsenal players and Man City players, making comments about their old team, then we can have Oggy and Rob Gurney. 🤔

Said it on the match thread, we are spoiled to have Clive and Oggy compared to what a lot of other teams have to put up with. Had to watch a Leeds comms stream 1st half last night, they were so dull, monotone and soulless. Clive and Oggy despite a few miss pronunciations bring a tonne of passion and match the flow of the game.

have to agree I'm not a huge Gurney fan, seems quick to sound bitter

Never really thought that was a problem. Having a partisan reporter has both good and bad qualities.

This is escalating quickly. Next it will be "Rob disarmed a police officer and baton charged the Norwich end whilst screaming fuck you delia down the mic"
there was some sort of incident, he keeps referring to it in commentary

who was that bloke ages ago we had who couldn’t string a sentence together and just gave his interior ramblings and paused mid sentence as something was about to happen? is that rob gurney? had the paramount + commentary last night sounds like a blessing

not clive i love clive, he’s head and shoulders above any other local commentators.

I love the CWR team. Whatever we think of them, they surely don't deserve the shit they get on the phone in each week.

There's nothing like seeing us win a game and getting in the car in a great mood, only to put the radio on and want to crash into Blue Ribbon Island 5 minutes later because the third caller in a row has said we played shit, despite not only watching, but after us winning so convincingly.

There are still callers who are salty about Eakin replacing Gurney.

Well, personally speaking, I like listening to all three of them. It's just the callers that I tend to switch off!

If it wasn't for CWR, I think I'd have lost all interest in the club years ago, particularly when it decided to go a-wandering.

Each to their own though, obviously.
