It was reported this week that Russia is having to use donkeys (actual donkeys) to deliver supplies to the front line as they don’t have the vehicles available to do it.

Nice to read that John Gayle and Kevin Kyle have finally found a purpose after football.

*they were both Coventry City association football players who weren't very good Tony.

Russia mounted their biggest drone attack of the war last night.
Trump could have asked for a cease fire during talks but you know he wants this leverage to use against Ukraine, as do Russia.
Trump will say Ukraine needs to make peace else Russia will flatten more cities, look what happened.

Yet you were supportive of the USA despite its previous and ongoing support of Netanyahu?

And I don't know what point you think you're trying to make here - I don't agree with them supporting war criminal Netanyahu and I don't agree with them doing a deal with war criminal Putin.

There's only one of you and I that wants to do a deal with a war criminal. Clue - it isn't me.

The point is pretty obvious.

Without negotiating with Russia, they'd be no end to the war, ffs.

Well whatever your reasons for thinking it's the right thing to do, it's funny how you've just pulled me up for apparently being on the side of a war criminal when I'm not and you are.

I've called Putin a c**t multiple times and think he should be locked up. Whereas you've blindly backed a country that's provided funding for what i'd call war crimes. All of a sudden you're surprised about them talking to Putin when it suits.

It's certainly bent over backwards to help Netanyahu commit ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Ukraine though was attacked without provocation and has now been sold down the river by the US.

So rather than helping just one war criminal it's now helping two.

Pretty simple. Israel committed war crimes and broke international law. Russia committed war crimes and broke international law.

There is a difference between striking a conciliatory tone to facilitate negotiations and peddling Kremlin lies...

Trump chose the latter.

The Neville Chamberlain of C21. He really does need to be assassinated.

Merz not fucking about.

Germany's chancellor-in-waiting, didn't wait for the final results of his country's election on Sunday to herald a new era in Europe.

Declaring the US indifferent to this continent's fate, Friedrich Merz questioned the future of Nato and demanded Europe boost its own defences. Quickly.

This tone from the close US ally - and from Friedrich Merz who is known to be a passionate Atlanticist - would have been unimaginable even a couple of months ago.

It's a seismic shift. That may read like hyperbole, but what we are now experiencing in terms of transatlantic relations is unprecedented in the 80 years since the end of World War Two.

Big European powers have been shocked to the core by the Trump administration, which suggests it could revoke the security guarantees to Europe in place since 1945.

"I would never have thought that I would have to say something like this in a TV show but, after Donald Trump's remarks last week... it is clear that this government does not care much about the fate of Europe," Friedrich Merz said during a post-election debate on Sunday.
"My absolute priority will be to strengthen Europe as quickly as possible so that, step by step, we can really achieve independence from the USA," he added.

Merz hinted that the endeavour was so urgent that he was not sure on whether the transatlantic alliance leaders gathering for a summit in June "would will still be talking about Nato in its current form or whether we will have to establish an independent European defence capability much more quickly".

Significantly, the forthcoming chancellor put Donald Trump's America on a par with Russia - widely viewed here as a security threat to Europe more broadly. "We are under such massive pressure from two sides that my absolute priority now really is to create unity in Europe," Merz said.

It has and will always act in its best interests above anything else.

‘Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that Moscow will cease military operations in Ukraine only upon securing agreements that fully align with Russia’s interests.

He emphasized that halting hostilities along the current line of contact, followed by deliberations on subsequent actions, is unacceptable for Russia.

According to RT, Lavrov underscored the necessity of “ironclad” guarantees ensuring Ukraine’s non-membership in NATO, identifying this as a pivotal condition for resolving the war.

In a recent interview, he reiterated that Ukraine must revert to a neutral, non-aligned, and non-nuclear status.

Additionally, Lavrov expressed opposition to the deployment of Western peacekeeping missions within Ukraine under any banner, whether NATO, the European Union, or national contingents, asserting that such initiatives would be unacceptable to Moscow.

Earlier, Reuters reported that U.S. and Russian representatives engaged in unofficial discussions about the war in Ukraine in Switzerland, including as recently as last week. The talks, described as “Track Two” diplomacy, involved individuals with backgrounds in diplomacy and security but not acting as government officials.

While details remain unclear, the meetings reportedly took place during the transition following Donald Trump’s election victory, with at least some of his advisers aware. Switzerland’s foreign ministry confirmed hosting such discussions, stating they are organized by non-state actors to facilitate dialogue on the war.’

Given what looks to be happening to NATO I think Ukraine could now quite happily promise not to join
