Anyone remember that shite “Sky Blue Land” song they played in the first couple seasons at the Ricoh? Awful.

Am I right in thinking that during the mid-90s, bands would play on a stage by the pitch at half-time?

What!? This absolute banger.

Brought back the memories of cringing to this when it used to get played!

I think this is the worst of the "modern" era. Sounds like Cliff, Eurovision '68.

Used to get played at HR a lot.

I actually quite like that one. Probably because it makes a bit sad as it was a great era at HR with Dublin. Ndlovu, Whelan etc🥲

Fair enough. We each have our own favourites that poke the nostalgia within us.

"Pavarotti" did a song at half time on one boxing day in the mid 90's.

Yes, remember a few at HR and other grounds.

Always remember the girl dancers or cheerleaders or whatever prancing around the pitch. Never a good idea in front of pissed football fans.

When I started going up in the late 70s as a kid in the warmer months they'd have the Coventry Corp of drums playing an marching up and down the pitch before the game and at half time. I'd quite like them to do that again

I'm sure Sonia was at HR. The first i remember was an away game, Monday night maybe, one of the first games on Sky; something like that.

The "artist" in the middle of the pitch was those two little black kids who wore their jeans back to front. Awful.

Did King play after a game too

Don't remember that. We did use one of their songs for a chant for a brief time back in the 80s. Never caught on.

Despite knowing in my heart how shit While The Sky Is Blue is, I can't deny it warms my heart when I hear it. I'd love the club to reintroduce it to the pre-match rotation, although they're clearly pitching at the TikTok Generation and it's probably a little lame for that.

I think my favourite ever pre-match song was "All Fired Up" by Pat Benetar, so many memories of going to HR with my father in the 2000s. I still have it on my pre-interview/presentation playlist.

I remember a really shit one that used to wind me up as a teenager but I can't find it anywhere, I think it was called "it's for life son" and was played the first season in D1

I'm sure after a game they did a set of about 6 songs
You're probably right. I have been to 100s (1000s?) games and can't remember hardly any of them.

Na na na ner na ner ner na na na na na Blues!
Repeat…

To the tune of Alone without you by popular (for 5 minutes) Coventry beat combo King.

Yep, that's it. Wasn't for long though, was it?

Was it during the early 00s that we came out to a medley of The Final Countdown and O Fortuna?

I think it was final countdown. I also remember Let Me Entertain You being played a lot just before kick off

You might be right. Can't remember. Just reminds me of HR as does the lovely version of the Eton Boating Song they've taken to playing at the CBS now. Pleased to hear that again.

Thats on YouTube as well. This was the version commissioned by Jimmy Hill

Your dad is extending slightly.

it was announced that there would be major exciting news for all SkyBlue fans if we got to our seats in HR before kick off on the opening Saturday of our relegation season.

There was much speculation that we would be signing some World Cup superstar or similar. Anyroadup, it turned out that the big announcement was none other than BA Robertson - a personal friend of our manager Wee Gordon - had written a song that encapsulated the joy and commitment of being a football fan (especially of us). We got to hear the “world premiere” “performance” of the song -It’s for Life son. BA Robertson frolicked around while it blared over the tannoy to a decidedly mixed reception.

IIRC we were beaten 3-1 by Middlesbro and the song was never played again.

His dad is right and you’re wrong I’m afraid, was played consistently 1999 season, my first year with a ST. Happy times.

Sounds right up there with the Sonia 'Get your tits out for the lads' rendition. At least that 's all I could hear, not sure what she was actually trying to sing.
Up there with does she take it up the arse to David Beckham.
