Hes won an ICC tournament, so no his record isn’t appalling. Are we struggling currently? Yes - that’s not down to captaincy, it’s down to the selectors and pool of players that are currently available to us

He’s only had 2 of his batsmen turn up, and on top of that the make up of the bowling attack he’s been given was all wrong.

there’s not even a stand out replacement. it’ll probably be Brook, but he’s yet to make his mark on the white ball game.
It will be Salt, Buttler wins less than half the games he captains and without looking some of those wins will be against teams like Ireland and the other minor nations it’s a poor record. He was hamstrung that nobody plays 50 over cricket anymore and most of the players used are t20 smash and bang cricketers.

Think there's an issue with 50 over cricket in general. Players aren't playing enough. There's an average of 9-10 Odis per year, none are playing domestic 50 over cricket.
Too many top order wickets been thrown away in this tournament with unnecessary shots - batting like it's a 20 over game.
None of the quicks can create scoreboard pressure and over 10 over spells that's a lot of runs.
Also the home wins paper over the cracks of some dire overseas ODI results for many years.

Played 17
Lost 16

Judging by our current position against South Africa, that will soon be played 18 lost 17.

Shit isn't it, nice to see them making a big effort to win Buttlers last game in charge.

Think we need to have a serious conversation about 50 over cricket. Seems to be little played domestically in any country. For international games tickets seem a harder sell than either t20 or test and its just part of a huge over saturation.

We've got a World Cup or similar pretty much every year, makes it background noise rather than a premium event.

First tier Test sides (outside tournaments) seem to be only averaging 8/9 games a year. Don't remember a game against Pakistan after the Test series - might have been useful.

Need to remember last World Cup was a disaster - w3 l6. lost to Afghanistan then so this lastest defeat should be no surprise. Weonlybeat Pakistan,Netherlands & Bangladesh.

Again most of the top order got themselves out. Not batting even 40 overs is criminal. Couple of good catches but generally wickets thrown away.
