and? a venture capital fund is going to want them to operate at a profit, they lose 8 figure amounts a year so nomatter who owns them they need to cut costs
only way they get anywhere near celtic again is either celtic indifference or some throws serious money at them with no desire for any money back which is not the m.o. of venture capitalists

the consistent 8 figure losses and basically spending every last dime on stopping celtic winning 10 in a row has done for them
it could be a lot more than 5 years behind as Celtic have started to look better in Europe and are now posting 8 figure profits

Not for me, I see the way Celtic fans acted in Birmingham and Rangers in Manchester and I want to keep them as far away as possible, not worth the trouble they would bring
They can keep their backwards beliefs and songs about religion and the troubles the other side of Hadrian's Wall as far as I am concerned cause we have grown up and moved on a little bit down here

It's a complicated and difficult situation, I wear a poppy, but believe it would be distasteful and wouldn't go to Dublin or areas of Belfast and shout about how great our armed forces are
Just as I think going to Birmingham where victims families are still seeking justice for those responsible for the pub bombings and chanting about the IRA is also a no-no
Don't care for either of them, they are Scottish - no need for them to be in our leagues at the expense of two sides who would be denied of a promotion to shoe-horn them into the league

I hear these concerns, equally they are two clubs with big international profiles and huge fan bases pulling in 50,000 a week in a major city not all that far from the border. We’re fine to let a plethora of let’s be honest much smaller Welsh clubs compete in our system.
There are dickheads in all fan bases of big clubs.

The Welsh clubs have been a part of the English system for years as there was no proper football structure in Wales at the time

You would simply expand the PL by two clubs and carry on business as normal otherwise. Nobody would need to be denied promotion.

I agree it probably won’t happen, but the principle of a British league system within reason (like not all the way down the pyramid) is something I’d like to see happen.

It would also completely fuck Scottish Football, yes it would make it more competitive in terms of new sides getting a chance of winning the league and it would stabilise in time but Scottish Football needs the Old Firm
Them simply being in that division probably makes up for most of the television audience and removing them from the equation would be similar to when ITV digital collapsed down here, clubs have commited to spending on budgets including TV revenue which would probably 3/4 down in size with no Rangers or Celtic

But it seems a good idea on paper, but then in the early rounds would Exeter City (for example) really want to fork out for travel and accommodation for a poorly attended 1st round tie against St Johnstone? Probably not, they'd more than likely make a loss

So you're saying that not only should two clubs from a different country's league be accepted into English football, despite having no more affiliation to it than (for example) Dinamo Minsk or Santos, that they should also be fast-tracked to its highest division?
Even taking a neutral stance on Celtic and Rangers (and I admit I don't have that) I don't agree with that at all. If they wanted to join the English pyramid, they should start drafting their applications to the Northern Premier League ASAP. If in a hypothetical world they did join, then their place in the top division would have to be earnt via wins on the pitch.
