Why does everyone on here have to be labelled as Pro-SISU or Anti-SISU? Can't we all just get back to supporting a football team when they play football matches?

I think regarding rent, the 2 camps are clearly PRO-CCFC and ANTI-CCFC!

If you look at valiant's and CJ's comments, they are a disgrace. Both publicly saying they want the club to fail.

I think that the latter camps' has lost credibility because of these outbursts.

Also, I don't particularly like SISU, nor do Torch or Grendel but we get labelled 'SISU lovers' because we defend them on some occasions.

It's much easier and lazier to label people than to read what they say or acknowledge that you can approve and disapprove of the same person or group without it being crips vs bloods.

I don't know why SISU are thought of as some evil organisation who can only do bad. They are a company trying to do what is best for their shareholders and in the majority of cases this is also what is best for the club. Yes, they got last year wrong, but they have shown signs of learning from their mistakes. I get the feeling some people believe they sit in their office all day plotting how to piss CCFC fans off.

I've chose to ignore the threads regarding anything to do with the running of the club (except this one) you'll find me in the threads talking about a specific player or the team but to be honest all the stuff going on behind the scenes is of no interest to me, I don't understand it and anything I say on an Internet forum won't change the outcome to anything.

A forum is a place for discussion and its only natural that a group of people will have differences of opinion to one another however to be pigeon holed into Pro-Sisu and anti-Sisu seems a little bit silly to me, I'm sure everyone on here can have valid points without being immediately seen as one group or the other,

Anyway, back to the threads that involve the team :)

You mean the team put together by SISU with the money that could have gone towards paying some rent instead? ;)

All Coventry Fans would want the rent down whilst Non Coventry fans would want it up. Simple fact.
This would be the case regardless whether SISU are there or not.

Spot on. They are the best we have available at this moment of time so we have to run with it. They need to improve no doubt but hopefully they have learnt a hard lesson.

The argument that it is depriving a charity of money is ludicrous. The contract for rent is between CCFC and Arena Coventry Ltd. The Ltd. signifies it is a limited company not a charity. The fact a charity holds a share in ACL is completely irrelevant. Charities often hold shares in many companies as a way to raise funds.

I agree that it is possible to like some of the things they do, and dislike others. I like to remain impartial on our owners. I'll criticise if they do wrong, and praise if they do right. Trying to reduce the rent is right in my opinion.

Anyway, what i love most about the absolute ANTI-SISU brigade, is the fact that they have it in their heads that SISU don't care about the club in any capacity and are only here for the ricoh and surrounding land. But do they never contemplate that the two are linked? A successful club can surely only help them achieve their goals. If you're going to build hotels and restaurants and whatever on the surrounding land, then 30,000 people turning up every other week offers you the potential for a far better return, than if there are 8000 turning up in league 1, or even less in league 2! It just doesn't make commercial sense to disregard to club.

You are absolutely right. They need the land and share in the stadium to increase revenue to invest in the club. Success for the club will then increase said revenue streams further eventually allowing the club to become profitable and allow money to be paid out to shareholders.

Simples.

The below strength team due to excessive rents and missing cash flows.

Exactly my point, none of that in the slightest interests me, we have a squad of players that I'm fully behind, all the other nonsense and out cash flows and the like I have no interest in. I have my own cash flows to worry about without having to worry about that of my club

Yes but what about the people who claim to be Coventry fans an are totally against a rent reduction?

This is great, genuinely, I think we'd all love to be able to not have to worry about the finances of the club or how its being run, but its essential that at least some fans out there care enough about those things to ask intelligent and probing questions.

The alternative is total apathy, and that would be much much worse.

Please don't take that the wrong way - hopefully 95% of fans just care about the team. But don't knock the other 5%, they're just as important.

Why would a genuine supporter be against the club paying less rent? I don't get how that is possible?

Less rent/more favourable rent agreement means more money for the club to invest in other areas such as players and therefore hopefully greater success.

The alternative of course being continue to pay the same rent and not really being a viable business which will mean we languish in the lower leagues or, worse, cease to exist.

Here we go again ..........

Don't know of any fans that are not for a rent reduction. Most are unhappy in at least one way they are going about getting a reduction. I would be much happier if they were paying what they see as a fair rent. They are paying no rent at all. They have said about playing elsewhere. How many STH's would be happy with this? How many are happy with the uncertainty this brings to the club? How many are happy with the non payment at all?

There are many other reasons that fans are unhappy with the situation. This doesn't mean fans don't want a reduction. The uncertainty is the worse thing of all.

I think you mid-understand me, I don't think there's anything atall wrong with fans being interested in how the clubs run, obviously if nobody cared we'd be in a worse state now than we actually are, my problem with these threads is that it is never a healthy debate, 90% of the time somebody puts out an opinion on a subject regarding Finances / Sisu etc. and they are immediately without any counter argument branded a "Sisu loving prick" (was my favourite from a couple of days ago) if people can debate in an adult manner in these threads they should be applauded, but it from what I have seen rarely happens.

Personally I don't agree with the concept 'if you support Coventry different moral rules apply if it helps Coventry'

I felt this about our signing if Marlon.
I wasn't aware that we shafted Southampton out of money for Leon Best. I assume we have now been forced to pay that?

Where do you draw the line? What's the point of having your own moral standard if you then become a complete hypocrite where Coventry are concerned?

Im pro Coventry and pro stability and that means to me leaving the current people running the club to get on with it at least for this season. It does not mean I am pro/anti SISU as such.

It was the first thing SISU paid off when taking over the club and led to the lifting of the transfer ban.

If the rent is too high then SISU should have renegotiated at the point of taking over. That was their remiss and not ACL's fault.
Comparing us to other league one rents. Again we are in league one because of the poor manner in which SUSU ran their business.

SISU say it is not because they cannot afford the rent it is because they say it is too high for league one.

The ground is not the average league one ground.

It has do much more potential and SUSU are not maximising that potential. They are starting to go in the right direction.

ACL have reduced the rent to a level they say that is the lowest they can go without going out if business.

SISU have said a rent value and won't budge from it.

People here are saying well if it gets driven down to that and that helps coventry then so be it.

400k down to 200k

Is an extra 16k a month. Which may put ACL out of business

Is that really going to massively help us? To the extent to justify putting another company out of business. Which at the end of the day has occurred because of the direct bad performance by SISU. When SISU are admitting they can afford it.

To call anyone who questions this not a real coventry fan - bizzare in my book.

ACL down from 1.2 million to 400k
SISU 200k to 200k

Attendances will go up as SISU are improving at running their business.

If they get 20k a match again which success will bring they can be raking in 5-7 million

So ACL cannot make money other than off the football club with all these wonderful facilities? Do you think they are incompetent or lazy?

And nothing to do with the Ricoh being designed as a football ground?

The use of the ground itself is limited during the football season.

@ Grendel..

Astute is right. The Ricoh is limited to what goes on during the football season, But I hardly think ACL are incompetent or lazy, when they have had "Top Acts" ie- Take That etc perfoming there. You can hardly have shows in the pouring rain or snow in the middle of winter in an open air stadium can you!

The main purpose of the stadium. is a football club.
Other sources of income are supposed to be supplementary

I am sure the other sources if income ACL have generated has allowed them to come down by 66%

The main idea of building the Ricoh was for football to be played there. That is not a good enough reason not to pay any rent at all.

If it all goes tits up and we can't play there for any reason there is much more they can do with the stadium without football games getting in the way.
