An awful lot like to spout about the joys of capitalism and un-fettered market forces then complain about immigrants coming in as cheap labour, or jobs going abroad to places such as China or India because labour costs are cheaper, and capitalists only care about how much profit they can squeeze out of people.

Always considered it strange that jobs are "outsourced" abroad so as not to pay a decent wage to people over here, but Chief Executive jobs never are.

Sure they can be hired cheaper too, and judging by the success of Land Rover, better too.

I only mentioned that I think it remarkable that CUBA has resisted the West despite being so close to America. This - given how much of the world has been dominated by American capitalism - is remarkable.

However, even Marx took part in the 'system', why? Because you have to wait for the opportune moment for revolution. Look at the 'communist' revolutions the have happened so far, they have all failed, why? Because, if you look at orthodox Marxism, it says the country needs to have to have a developed proletariat and the country where it'd happen, capitalism would need to be matured. Look at China and Russia, they were peasant revolutions, and Engels said the parties may be pushed into a repressive government to maintain its rule. That has happened.

Also, how can you judge 'advanced' capitalism? Germany had been considered advanced pre WW1, look back now, capitalism has become more advanced, technology has also advanced, and the nature of the beast will follow suit to. I personally think capitalism will fall after all the 'sweatshop' countries reform so the capitalists can no longer exploit workers', hopeful thinking, but that's what I think.

Until then, you take part in the system because there is no alternative.

We have seen this time and time again, and now Cuba seems keen to embrace political change.

How were the revolutions ever going to be successful!? They never had a developed proletariat, and backward economies, I for one do not like Stalin, but it has been argued that his repressive industrialisation programme was necessary, but these things taint the regime and repression becomes entrenched in the regime (very true in USSR) and thus doomed to fail. The regimes were also born in difficult circumstances, where could argue, repressive measures were needed, especially true in the Bolsheviks' case, this is a view that has acceptance regardless of political views.

There hasn't been a 'communist' or 'socialist' revolution hasn't occurred in an industrialised country, that is paramount in Marx's model, so surely, you can't judge it properly. But of course it has been judged and until the memories of its' failures are worn away, chances are, it will never be a popular movement again.

Like all systems, capitalism will for, but who knows what will succeed it.
