In my humble opinion, all I want is success for my football club, Coventry City FC. I'm not privy to any discussions regarding the management and day to day operation and can only guess at what is happening from information provided in the media and the thoughts of others on forums such as this.
Piecing everything together, a hedge fund and football club do not seem ideal partners. Add into the mix the involvement of the local council, a charity, a separate company that manage the stadium of which we are tenants and you have a very complicated picture. One certainly far removed from the Club I started supporting as a lad back in the mid 1960's, a Club led by a local businessman who was a long-term fan and was prepared to invest his money in building a dream.
I know times have changed dramatically, but for what it's worth, I detest SISU with a passion. Everything they represent, their morals - or apparent lack of them - and the effect they have had on our Club since they arrived in town. And let's not forget the succession of individuals who preceded them, all taking their pound of flesh out of CCFC - Richardson, McGinnity and Robinson.
The latter lauded SISU's arrival in 2007, there was no-one else we were told with only 30 minutes from administration. We all rejoiced at the time, but sadly the reality of the last 5 years has not come close to matching our aspirations back then.
And like it or not, there don't appear to be any white knights on the horizon. We are stuck with SISU for the time being. And for that reason we should at least understand what they are trying to do for CCFC. We may not agree with their methods and business ethics, but the alternative does not bear thinking about.
