You cannot reason with people who refuse to address the points raised by those they disagree with, but instead
Resort to personal insults
Pick on subsidiary clauses not the main points raised ie. Keep changing the terms of debate and obscuring the main issues.
Infer opinions on others that they have not stated. says you? Refer back a bit to rejog your mind
See balanced, nuanced comments as betrayals to the cause of CCFC there're balanced? To ACL you mean?
Have entrenched opinions that no facts or valid counter arguments can lead them to question. many, many x10 are worst offenders, who would blame SISU for the ending of the world, and no, i dont think that's an exaggeration

SBTaylor, I did not answer the points that you raised because they made no sense and avoid all the main points up for debate.
It is not sixth form debate club where the objectives are to try to catch people out, obscure the issue, pick on a minor inconsistency in an opponent's argument in order to score points.
These are not intellectually honest tactics. That is why a reasonable person refuses to debate with people who will not use the intellectually honest debating skills.
I have been a teacher for donkey's years and have taught debating skills. People that refuse to debate properly are barred from participating.
Unlike you I don't go back and analyse every clause of your sentences to find a hint of an error. I try to deal with the main points raised and address them.
That is honest debate ... But I don't think you are into that.

OK, so please give you honest analysis of SBKs reaction and language on this thread. You said you agreed with his stance so I would be interested in a teachers view and him stating he just wants respect.

What do you think of the way he tries to gain that respect. Is it done in a positive manner? Is it working, do you think.

Just re reading and somebody said it was an imbecilic post and you started with the go fuck yourselves and swearing and abuse etc. why not bring the post to our attention so we can deal with it? When you just go off on one then what are we meant to do?

It is a forum, people wont agree but there are ways to go about it though! What do you want me to do?

SBKid lost it when 3 posters ganged up on him. I supported his view that the debate was not reasonable and moderation should weed out bullying tactics.
