There's certainly potential, but really not much justification to place us as a top club. Although it's really just meaningless hypotheticals anyway when people go on about big clubs, there's only one league table that matters (and depresses).

Are you denying that £5 per ticket and a chance to get a Wembley ticket had nothing do do with the crowd?

35k watched Grimsby vs Wrexham in the FA trophy final. They must be bigger than us.

On previous seasons we have also managed 27-28 k

When we have had a good run. So of course it had an impact. However like I say if you didn't want to watch us you could have paid the fiver secured your wembley ticket then went and played golf.

I am not saying a top club just been realistic and not putting us as low as some suggest.

We are certainly not the 8k capacity club our current owners envisage.

They have largely been one offs with the away team bringing 5-6k with them, I can't remember ever having a run of 3-4 home games on the bounce with 27-28k.

And what was the common theme with those one off's

A rare successful run with good football.

Followed by a pants performance and the end of a the run at those matches.

The common theme is cup games - we've only breached 28k 5 times in 8 seasons - Chelsea, Crewe,Middlesbrough, WBA in cup games and Leeds in the league.

Yeah I think so, 1-1 2006.

I don't even think we're a small club, just an average sized club.

I think the problem lies more with the team never being any more than bottom half fodder in whichever league it has found itself in. Coventry is one of the biggest cities in England and Wales outside of London and football is the most popular sport in it by some distance and this is excluding support we can draw in from neighbouring parts of Warwickshire. The only thing stopping us from having crowds to match our neighbours is a team challenging at the right end of the table.

We lost all those other games didn't we? I remember the Leeds one being built up as a game where we could really kick on into a playoff push. Maybe this ground move is nothing to do with revenue but just because we play a lot better when there are only a handful of Cov fans watching. Operation Championship!

Also, Stern John was pretty great. One of those players stupidly maligned as 'lazy', like you also get with shit players like Berbatov and Ibrahimovic.

Yeah we lost the other 4 games. WBA hammered us 5-0!!!

It's a viscous circle. Fans don't turn up, less revenue, less player budget, poorer performances, less fans. Even when sisu invested early on we only average 17k in their first full season in charge.

That was in the wake of sacking Dowie too wasn't it? Stunning timing on that one. We didn't really threaten Chelsea but didn't disgrace ourselves either, so it wasn't too bad. Still bitter about them letting Alex(?) back on from the sidelines though, knew he'd score when he made that run.

My favourite cup game was that extra time defeat to Newcastle. The very late equaliser from a Gunnarsson throw was the loudest I've heard the Ricoh to date, and either Fox or Dann nutmegged Michael Owen at some point and made him look a fool. What a time to be alive, even though we lost.

Carlton Coles last minute winner for West Ham is definitely one of the biggest disappointments....

I was almost relieved at that, I remember being sick as a dog that game so extra time would have killed me.

I agree completely.

I remember thinking Alex was going to score to and that really sore feeling after the goal went in (as in sore loser, not I got hurt).

For Newcastle, my mate said 'co'mon lets go', I said no, we get the throw-in and scored, craziest I've gone at a home game. Remember Keegan saying if they play like that week in, week out, 'they'll be playing us next season', then Newcastle get relegated!

Agree average size with so much un tapped potential.

A 32 stadium is not unrealistic if you had owners that knew how to run a successful football club like West Brom currently have.

We got 27, 992 against Wolves in the league and
25k verses Leeds. So the potential is there. Cov fans just need some success for once.

Hopefully a new dawn will bring it.

What was the Wolves score? We've got to have one win in these big crowd games, was it the one where Ebanks-Blake missed that penalty at the death?

West Brom were fortunate that they first got in to the PL before the big boom in wages, they were then happy being a yo yo club for 6-7 seasons and didnt overspend on wages or fees. I imagine they also haven't been paying £1.2m rent plus matchday costs and have access to all year round revenue from their ground.

Ironically we helped them get in the PL by handing over £5m for Lee Hughes.

Yep I think that is the only way to establish yourself in the Prem now. Unless you have a billionaire backing you.

What was our average attendance in the Premier League in the 80's and 90's?

we very rarely sold out highfield road, put it that way.. id hazard a guess at 19k ?

it may not be a full indication of what we'd get today.. but i dont think it would be too far off.. remember we had 'the entertainers' at highfield road.. one of the best prem teams in my time.. hadji, chippo, keane, bellamy, mcallistar.. totally overspent & put on some decent footnball and still averaging 20k.

some might say we'd get more fans in the premiership these days.. but would we ? or after a while would some fans still say "oh i cant be bothered going up there to watch us get beat every week" ... as lets be honest , if we did get up, then i doubt we'd more than a yo yo team again. so while an initial burst of maybe 25-27k a week might happen.. i think a fair assumption of an average premiership crowd would be somewhere around 22k

Hey thats AMAZING,
I can't think why he would say that!
Funny you hang on every word he says when it demonstrates what you want to think, then say he always lies when somebody points to things that don't suit your want.
That's objective!

:pimp:
None of this is funny, it's tragic the way our club is being abused by the owners. We've been at our lowest position for decades with the highest level of debt, thanks to their stewardship. We're not even sure what legally constitutes our club thanks to the shell game they appear to have been playing with the golden share and different companies. Then they bang on about FFP and the requirements that brings at the same time as hobbling our income with a groundshare outside the city. This of course is to say nothing of the proposal to spend money we don't have on a stadium we arguably don't need. Then having right royally pissed off the landlords who despite everything haven't kicked us out, they don't say sorry for their behaviour just that they will stay if the previous deal is put back on the table. Bit late for that isn't it?

Our club is the one that I grew up watching, I can remember my dad taking me to my first match at Highfield Road and the last. I can remember the trips to Hillsborough and Wembley for both the FA cup and the charity Shield. I cry every time I listen to my copy of Sky Blue Magic when the final whistle blows and again when Killer lifts the cup. Over the years I've taken some stick as a Sky Blues Fan from friends and colleagues, the latest jibe being "How do you think your home form will be away next season?" I don't take it personally, and even the friends making those comments are shocked by what's happening to us. On here I've been accused of being PWKH, a council worker, working in the ACL politburo in the Ministry for talking drivel etc. but I'm not actually that bothered, I get called names by my toddler nieces and nephews so nothing new there.

I thought that we couldn't get more screwed by the owners than we did under BR, and it pains me to say it but we are now. You're damn right that I pick up on things where Tim says stuff that doesn't add up or where he's been 'inaccurate' and so should you. If things look a bit suspect on either side of this mess then we should be questioning them about it. The fact that PWKH comes on here and presents the ACL/Charity side and is more open and comes across as a nice bloke doesn't mean that we should take everything he says as the unblemished truth.

The thing is though he and ACL have been more open with us and explained things when asked, they've also filed their accounts on time! That's one of the reasons that I quote him as a source, I've not yet found somewhere where he's been untruthful with us. At some points it is ACL/his word against CCFC/SISU and you have to make your own mind up in that case. Yes he and whoever else it was were a bit silly with balloon gate but other than that they've held what I can only describe as the moral high ground in all this. The club are starting to get around to engaging with the fans via the fans forums but it should have been done earlier and the owners should have noticed that they were getting unpopular a long time ago.

I believe that ACL should be part of the club and that the club needs the revenue from the 365 days a year Arena business. What I don't think is that a SISU owned club should have any part of this and thankfully I don't think the council will let them.

That kit confusion/contradiction isn't that AMAZING, just a recent example of something that needs an explanation about the apparent discrepancy.

Far more AMAZING is the list of things that need answers from Tim/CCFC/SISU a small fraction of which are listed here:

has anyone else spotted that this is an implicit admission by TF .............

If they were putting forward the plan for a new stadium in December then they had no intention of agreeing a rental that would keep the club at the Ricoh. The discussions that took place in January 2013 were at best based on two different premises ....... a short term deal for SISU and a long term deal offered by ACL to CCFC. At worst the discussions to lower the rent and gain access other income streams were simply not entered in to in good faith because TF & co were always going to leave - any offer or heads of terms were never going to be good enough.

anyone starting to see a thread to this or a plan mixed in with all the PR?

If Limited is a non-trading company why do the statutory accounts signed by Tim Fisher show:

1) Statement saying Principle activity of CCFC Ltd is that of a professional football club
2) Show turnover of £11m
3) Show expenditure of £16m
4) Show a staff breakdown of around 100 players and management
5) Limited accounts prepared as going concern and to continue trading for at least 12 months

Here is a question .......

The accumulated losses (or put another way the gap between assets and liabilities) at 31/05/11 was 55m yet by 21/03/13 that has risen to 70m. We are told by the administrator management accounts show that the losses incurred to 31/05/12 were 3m so are they really suggesting that CCFC Ltd lost 12m in the period from 01/06/12 to 21/03/13...... less than 9 months !

1. How is it that a "non trading" Company (CCFC Ltd) has debts of £70 million pounds if it not trading ?

2. How is it that a "non trading" Company (CCFC Ltd) is registered for VAT ?

3. If SISU made loans to a "non trading" Company (CCFC Ltd) it indicates CCFC Ltd is in fact trading.

4. How is it that loans made by Avro to Coventry City Football Club (Holdings) Limited have been passed onto CCFC Ltd if CCFC Ltd is a "non - trading" Company.

5. Why is it that players contracts in past years were between the player and CCFC Ltd if it is a "non- trading" company.

6 If CCFC Ltd is a "non -trading" Company how come it signed a lease agreement to play at the Ricoh when it had no income nor assets ?

I am sure there are loads more !

I know there are loads more !

Interesting quotes from Timmy "SISU is a distressed debt fund and therefore batters people in court. ACL had switched lawyers from Wragge’s to Walker Morris". "ACL is not even a real business-synthetic only". So there we have it, SISU BATTERS PEOPLE IN COURT, can anyone relate to this? ACL NOT A REAL BUSINESS, mind you they do file there accounts on time and are not, as a quote from Coventry City Football Club Holdings Limited stated (Mr Fisher and Mr Labovitch as Directors) on 21 March 2013 regarding Coventry City Football Club Limited"This is merely a property subsidary which owns no material assets and has no employees, on or off the pitch", well Mr Appleton knows where the League Share is.

I cmention this EXACT thing a few weeks ago OSB. Surprise surprise the trust trollls belittle the revelation! No surprise though. It's a typical trolling stance - blanket insults REGARDLESS of content.

And what a surprise the clique are trying to make these forums all about them. A forum - the WHOLE POINT of a forum, is to get opinions from DIFFERENT people. Yet the clique don't see it as this.

As you can see from the comment let the clique know the question and they will ask on their behalf. The reasoning is that not everyone will be asked a question.

But surely that is PRECISELY why the questions should NOT be forwarded by any one individual! After all, if you think about it (a problem I appreciate3 for these people as they are clearly incapable of logicval thought, they are NOT going to ask any individual more than one question!

SO rather than ensuring your question is going to be heard, the EXACT OPPOSITE is going to occur, and you are going to GUARANTEE that these questions are NOT going to be asked! All pooliong of question s will do is once more boost the egos of those involved in the clique!

If you have a question and you are going, surely you need to ask it PERSONALLY, after all if there is feedback, then how can you respond? Also what guarantee are you going to have the cliques would even ask if given the opportunity?

No yet again the clique are trying to boost there profile ONCE AGAIN at the expense of those who naively think they have the clubs' best wishes in mind!

Do these people have no depths they WON'T stoop to? Trying to hijack the forums for their own benefit!

Mind you it's all academic, as sisu aren't going to do anything, and the clique are incapable of doing anything!

Sure shouting at TF to his face may well be cathartic getting this off their chests, but sisu have made it perfectly clear they will not act on their objections.

No the ONLY real actions at this stage is to put pressure on the authorities, and ensure as best you can that it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a ground built up outside coventry, and the FL will not let sisu get off the hook.

I'm sure it will be an interesting forum, but not a chance it will do ANYTHING positive. Unless of course the clique expect TF to come out and say that because of the protests they will ask ACL to go back to the table, and they will categorically rule out any move away!

But hey, these are the SAME group trying to arrange a protest outside an empty office block! Hardly the brightest lights of their generation!

Am I glad that you are no longer Chief of Staff I am gratefull that my and my nations safety is not in the hands of a lunatic. whats it like in your bunker moving non exsistant divisions of Coventry fans with a view to saving the club. Looking forward to removing Jimmys statue and replacing it with one of you with the inscription "Single handedly saved Coventry City Football Club inspite of the inbreds and morons"
But hey just shows that Care in the Community was a flawed concept.
